WHEREAS, Madison House, Inc. has been classified and designated by the General Assembly of Virginia as a charitable and benevolent organization within the context of ~6(a)(6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia; and WHEREAS, the property owned by Madison House, Inc. at 170 Rugby Road are identified as Parcel No. 153, on Tax Map No. 9 is used exclusively for charitable and benevolent purposes on a nonprofit basis; and WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Virginia has passed legislation requiring a resolution from the governing body declaring that the property owned by Madison House, Inc. is used exclusively for charitable and benevolent purposes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Charlottesville declares that the property owned by Madison House, Inc. at 170 Rugby Road and identified as Parcel No. 153 on Tax Map 9 is used exlusively for charitable and benevolent purposes; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council be directed to deliver to Madison House, Inc. a copy of this resolution. On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife the following resolution was unanimously adopted. WHEREAS, Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26 has duly applied for a permit to conduct bingo parties in compliance with ~17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26 meets the qualifications as outlined in ~17-19; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26 to conduct bingo parties in accordance with all the provisions of §17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville for a period of one year from the date of this resolution; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Clerk of the Council be directed to send a copy of this resolution-to the Recording Secretary of Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26. On motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Barbour the following resolution was unanimously adopted. WHEREAS, the Virginia Twirlettes have duly applied for a permit to conduct raffles in compliance with §17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Virginia Twirlettes meet the qualifications as outlined in ~17-19; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to the Virginia Twirlettes to conduct raffles in accordance with all the provisions of ~17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville for a period of one year from the date of this resolution; and BE IT RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Virginia Twirlettes. On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife the City Manager was authorized to sign a contract with Metcalf and Eddy for a feasibility study to be performed for the Resource Recovery Study Commission. An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCONTINUING AN ALLEY ADJACENT TO THE WEST SIDE OF AVON STREET IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE," Wmich was offered at the meeting of the Council on April 4, 1977, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Brunton.
