242 <br /> <br />Resolution re: Madison <br />House, Inc. <br /> <br />Resolution re: Bingo <br />Permit - Laura Rebekah <br />Lodge No. 26 <br /> <br />Resolution re: Raffle <br />Permit - Virginia <br />Twirlettes <br /> <br />Authorization re: <br />Mayor to sign contract <br />with Metcalf & Eddy <br /> <br />Ordinance re: Closing <br />Alley adjacent to <br />Avon Street <br /> <br />Account Code: <br /> <br />05-0600-5001 <br />05-0700~5318 <br />05-1500-5001 <br />05-3700-5001 <br /> <br />P~ojec.~: <br /> <br />Amount: <br /> <br />Juvenile Court Building $ 41,779 <br />Preston Avenue Improvements $ 206,632 <br />Pen Park Improvements $ 7,392 <br />High Rise Housing for the Elderly $ 85,000 <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> WHEREAS, Madison House, Inc. has been classified and <br />designated by the General Assembly of Virginia as a charitable <br />and benevolent organization within the context of ~6(a)(6) of <br />Article X of the Constitution of Virginia; and <br /> WHEREAS, the property owned by Madison House, Inc. at <br /> 170 Rugby Road are identified as Parcel No. 153, on Tax Map No. <br /> 9 is used exclusively for charitable and benevolent purposes <br /> on a nonprofit basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Virginia has passed <br /> legislation requiring a resolution from the governing body <br /> declaring that the property owned by Madison House, Inc. is <br /> used exclusively for charitable and benevolent purposes; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the <br /> City of Charlottesville declares that the property owned by <br /> Madison House, Inc. at 170 Rugby Road and identified as Parcel <br /> No. 153 on Tax Map 9 is used exlusively for charitable and <br /> benevolent purposes; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council be <br /> directed to deliver to Madison House, Inc. a copy of this <br /> resolution. <br /> On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26 has duly applied <br />for a permit to conduct bingo parties in compliance with ~17-19 <br />of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended; and <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that Laura Rebekah <br />Lodge No. 26 meets the qualifications as outlined in ~17-19; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br />the City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to Laura <br />Rebekah Lodge No. 26 to conduct bingo parties in accordance <br />with all the provisions of §17-19 of the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville for a period of one year from the date of this <br />resolution; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Clerk of the Council be <br /> directed to send a copy of this resolution-to the Recording <br /> Secretary of Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Barbour the <br /> <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Twirlettes have duly applied for <br />a permit to conduct raffles in compliance with §17-19 of the <br />Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Virginia <br />Twirlettes meet the qualifications as outlined in ~17-19; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to the Virginia <br />Twirlettes to conduct raffles in accordance with all the provisions <br />of ~17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville for a <br />period of one year from the date of this resolution; and <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council be directed <br /> to send a copy of this resolution to the Virginia Twirlettes. <br /> On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife the <br /> City Manager was authorized to sign a contract with Metcalf and <br /> Eddy for a feasibility study to be performed for the Resource <br /> <br />Recovery Study Commission. <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND <br /> <br />DISCONTINUING AN ALLEY ADJACENT TO THE WEST SIDE OF AVON STREET <br />IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE," Wmich was offered at the meeting <br />of the Council on April 4, 1977, was adopted by the following <br />recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and <br /> <br />Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Brunton. <br /> <br /> <br />
