28.2 COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1977 Regular meeting Approval of minutes C.R.O~P. Walk Presentation re: Region X Mental Health and Retardation Annual Report Report re: Virginia Municipal League Annual Meeting Consideration re: Appropriation - Public Works Projects Consideration re: Appropriation - $22,566.00 - Commonwealth's Attorney Office The Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood, and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: None The minutes of the meetings of September 12th and September 16th were approved as presented. Rev.~ Steve Hassmer, Associate Minister of the First United Methodist Church, addressed the Council and presented plans for the Annual Church World Service C.R.O.P. Walk to be held on October 30th. Mr. Robert Hodous~-addressed the Council and presented the report from the Region X Community Mental Health and Retardation Services Board. The report outlined the services provided in 1976-77, objectives for 1977-78 and funding of the Mental Health Services Board. Mr. Fife presented a detailed report on the 72nd Annual meeting of the Virginia Municipal League held in Willi.amsburg on September 17-20, 1977. The report covered the legislative program of the league, the sessions on annexation and economic development and he reported that. the 1981 league meeting would be held in Charlottesville. He recommended that next year that more city representatives be sent to the league meeting, that the City support the league in its activities es~pecially its legislative proposal and that a committee be established to prepare for the 19.81 league meeting. The Mayor expressed appreciation to Fred Ferguson, Charlie May~, Francis Fife and Sidney Rush for their efforts in bringing the meeting to Charlottesville in L981. On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Barbour the fo[lowing resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that the sums hereinafter set forth be and the same are hereby appropriated from the unexpended balance of the General Fund to the respective accounts for the local public works projects listed below: Account Code Project Name Amount 11-30011 High School .Storage Building $ 41,000.00 11-30012 Tonsler Park Recreation Building 50,000.00 11-30013 Greenbrier School Heating System 30,000.00 11-30014 High School Playing Fields 200,000.00 11-30015 Street Repaving 510,000.00 On motion by Mr.Brunton, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the following resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the sum of $22,-566.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated from the unexpended balance of the General Fund to the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Charlottesville Account No. 01-12040 for additional expenses of the operation of that office.
