Resolution re: Highway Construction 1st priority - McIntire Road Resolution re: Highway Construction 2nd priority - Hydraulic Road Resolution re: Highway Construction - West Main Street - 3rd priority On motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Fife the following resolution was unanimously adopted. WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is necessary and appropriate for the future transportation needs of the City to initiate certain street and highway improvements; and WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation requires a formal request for each project and certain commitments on the part of the City Council, before the Department can initiate work on such highway projects to be funded from the City's annual allocations of urban highway improvement funds; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Council of the City of CharLottesville: 1'. That the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation be and hereby is requested to establish a project within the corporate limits of the City of Charlottesville for improvements: McIntire Road between Preston Avenue and Rio Road. 2. That the City hereby agrees to pay its share of the cost of engineering, acquisition of right-of-way, and construction of such project under the cost formula of 90% from the Department and 10% from the City. 3. Th~-:City further agrees that if such project is established as herein requested, and thereafter the City elects not to continue with such project to completion, the City will repay the Depart- ment for 100% of the costs incurred by the Department up to the time of such action by the City terminating such project. On motion by Mr. Barbour~ seconded by Mr. Fife the following r~esolution was unanimously adopted. WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is necessary and appropriate for the future transportation needs of the City to initiate certain street and highway improvements; and WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation requires a formal request for each project and certain commitments on the part of City Council before the Depart- ment can initiate work on such highway to be funded from the City's annual allocations of urban highway improvement funds; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: 1. That the Virginia',Department of Highways and Transportation be and hereby is requested to establish a project within, the corporate limits of the City of Charlottesville for improvements to: Hydraulic Road between U. S. 250 By-Pass and U. S. 29 North (Emmet Street) 2. That the City hereby agrees to pay its share of the cost of engineering, acquisition of right-of-way, and construction of such project under the cost formula of 90% from the Department and 10% from the City. 3. The City further agrees that if such project is established as herein requested, and thereafter the City elects not~.~o_continue with such project to completion, the City will repay the Depart- ment for 100% of the costs incurred by the Department up to the time of such action by the City terminating such project.
