Resolution re: Highway <br />Construction 1st <br />priority - McIntire <br />Road <br /> <br />Resolution re: Highway <br />Construction 2nd <br />priority - Hydraulic <br />Road <br /> <br />Resolution re: Highway <br />Construction - West <br />Main Street - 3rd <br />priority <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is necessary <br />and appropriate for the future transportation needs of the City <br />to initiate certain street and highway improvements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Highways and <br />Transportation requires a formal request for each project and <br />certain commitments on the part of the City Council, before the <br />Department can initiate work on such highway projects to be <br />funded from the City's annual allocations of urban highway <br />improvement funds; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of CharLottesville: <br /> <br />1'. That the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation be <br />and hereby is requested to establish a project within the <br />corporate limits of the City of Charlottesville for improvements: <br /> <br />McIntire Road between Preston Avenue and Rio Road. <br /> <br />2. That the City hereby agrees to pay its share of the cost of <br />engineering, acquisition of right-of-way, and construction of <br />such project under the cost formula of 90% from the Department <br />and 10% from the City. <br /> <br />3. Th~-:City further agrees that if such project is established as <br />herein requested, and thereafter the City elects not to continue <br />with such project to completion, the City will repay the Depart- <br />ment for 100% of the costs incurred by the Department up to the <br />time of such action by the City terminating such project. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Barbour~ seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br /> <br />r~esolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is necessary <br />and appropriate for the future transportation needs of the City <br />to initiate certain street and highway improvements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Highways and <br />Transportation requires a formal request for each project and <br />certain commitments on the part of City Council before the Depart- <br />ment can initiate work on such highway to be funded from <br />the City's annual allocations of urban highway improvement <br />funds; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: <br /> <br />1.
