338 <br /> <br />Matter by the public: <br />Mike Greco re: <br />Rial to and <br />Palatine <br />unaccepted <br />Streets <br /> <br />Executive SessiOn <br /> <br /> Mr. Mike Greco addressed the Council and requested that some <br />improvements be made to the unaccepted portion of Palatine Avenue <br />and Rialto Street. He stated that any improvements which have <br />been made were done by the property owners on these streets. The <br />Mayor adv~ed Mr. Greco that there was a limited amount of money <br />available for paving dedicated but unaccepted streets in the <br />Community Development Block Grant Fund and that this money has <br />been allocated this year. Mr. Fife also stated that some money <br />from CD funds had been spent on these streets, but there are <br />other streets in addition to the ones that have been fixed that <br />'do need attention, but all of them can't be done in a short <br />period of time. The City Manager reminded the Council that it <br /> <br />has been the City policy not to improve unaccepted streets. He <br /> <br />stated that the property owners may improve the street and <br />the City will then accept it and maintain it. <br /> <br /> A motion by Mr.Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Brunton that the <br />CoUncil meet in executive session to discuss a matter exempted <br />by Section 2.1-344(a)(2) of the Virginia Freedom of Information <br />Act, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />-Clerk <br /> <br />~resident <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, MARCH 6, 1978 <br /> <br />Regular meeting <br /> <br /> The Council met in regular session on this date with the <br /> following members present: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, <br /> Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br />Approval of minutes The minutes of the meeting of February 6, 1978 were approved <br /> as presented. <br /> <br />Appointment re: On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Gatewood, Mrs. <br />Committee for <br />Employment of the Harriett ~C. Payne was appointed to the Committee for Employment <br />Randicapped <br /> of the Handicapped, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife the following appointments were made <br /> to the Social Services Advisory Board, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Jane Saunier Mrs. Elizabeth Trimble <br /> Ms. Susie Williams Mrs. Marguerite E. Nimmo <br /> Dr. David B. Waters Mr. William M. Harris <br /> <br /> Mrs. Fannie Wars, President of the 10th and Page Streets <br /> Neighborhood Assoication, addressed the Council with reference <br /> to funds from Community Development Block Grant Funds for <br /> covering Schenk's Branch. Mrs. Wars stated that it was her <br /> understanding that two public hearings were required on the <br /> allocation of these funds, but to. her knowledge only one public <br /> hearing had been held. She stated that the Schenk's Branch <br /> project was approved by the Task Force and the Planning Commission <br /> <br />Appointment re: <br />Social Services <br />Advisory Board <br /> <br />Presentation re: <br />Schenk's Branch <br /> <br /> <br />
