' 3Z 8 <br /> <br /> Mr. John Pazzoli of the Region X Mental Health and <br />Retardati'on Services spoke in behalf of retaining the Social <br />Planners. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jimmy Miller suggested adding an Economist to the <br />staff of the Community Development Department to envaluate <br />the cost of various programs. <br /> <br /> Mr. Rich Graves of the Charlottesville Firefighters <br />Association requested that the cost of living increase no <br />be reduced, but maintained at 6%. <br /> <br /> Col. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meetings of March 20th and March 27th <br />were approved as amended. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife the following were reappointed to <br /> <br />the Economic Development Commission, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Hovey_~Da'bney Two YearS William Massie Smith ~One Year <br />Bernard Ha§gerry Three Years Betty Scott Three Years <br />Eugene Williams One Year J. Sidney Rush Two Years <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gatewood, Mrs. Florence Lang was <br />reappointed to the Mental Health and Retardation Services <br />Board, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On mo~ion by Mrs. O'Brien the following appointments were <br />made to the Industrial Development Revenue Bond Authority, by <br /> <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Edward D. Tayloe <br /> William Gitchell <br /> William Harris <br /> <br />Eric Heiner <br />Jack Chambers <br />Susie Sherwood <br /> <br /> Charlotte Scott <br /> <br /> On mogion by Mrs. O'Brien, Mr. Warren Martin was appointed <br />to the Historic Landmarks Commission,. by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> A petition was presented from Mrs. Helen E. Hamilton <br />requesting that the block~in which she lives on Edgewood Lane <br />be designated as a permit parking zone. The petition stated <br />that this would only involve three parking spaces in fronn of <br />Mrs. Hamilton's home. The City Manager stated at in order to <br />grant this request the off-street parking ordinance would have <br />to be amended and also some of the administrative require- <br />ments would have to be waived. Mr. Lane Kneedler, Attorney for <br />Mrs. Hamilton, addressed the Council in support of the petition <br />and explained that the parking problems along Edgewood Lane <br />are caused almost exclusively from the daily activities at <br /> <br /> <br />
