Presentation re: <br />School Board and <br />Consideration re: <br />Appropriation - <br />$4,200 for <br />ar_chitects fee - <br />Jefferson School <br /> <br />Presentation re: <br />Common Boundary <br />Commission <br /> <br /> the Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church. Mr. Sandy Peaslee <br /> addressed the Council on behalf of the Thomas Jefferson <br /> Unitarian Church and stated that the church sympathizes with <br /> Mrs. Hamilton and appreciates the problem. He stated that he <br /> .would agree with the proposal of making three parking spaces <br /> in front of her house a permit parking zone. A motion by Mr. <br /> Fife, seconded by Mr. Gatewood that the City Attorney be <br /> requested to prepare an ordinance establishing the three spaces <br /> on the south side of Edgewood Lane as Permit parking zone, was <br /> adopted by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, <br /> Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: Mr. Barbour. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Betsy.Bowers, Vice-Chairman of the~.School Board, <br /> addressed the Council and.stated that if the Lane High School <br /> Building is going to be sold to the County, the School Board <br /> will need to move its present programs to the Jefferson <br /> School Building. She stated that in order to move these <br /> programs some changes and renovations will he needed at <br /> Jefferson School. She requested an appropriation not to <br /> exceed $4,200 to employ an architect to prepare working <br /> drawings and specifications for possible-remodeling of Jefferson <br /> School. On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour the <br /> following resolution was offered and carried over to a <br /> special meeting to be held on April 10th. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br /> Charlottesville that the sum of $4,200.00, or as much thereof <br /> as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated from the <br /> unappropriated balance of the Capital Projects Fund to <br /> expenditure account 05-00530 for the retention of architectural <br /> services by the City School Board to design modifications <br /> to the Jefferson School building. <br /> <br /> Dr. James D. Moore, Chairman of the Common Boundary <br />commission, addressed the Council and presented a report on <br />criteria for mutual City-.County review of significant projects <br />as follows: 1. Any projects which according to the respective <br />Directors of Planning would hav~ a significant impact upon major <br />streets; 2. Any proPosed projects which are located in the <br />County within one mile radius of the corporate limits and those <br />projects which are located in the City but adjacent to the <br />corporate limits including residential projects consisting of <br />50 units or more and non-residential projects with five <br />acres or more; 3. Other projects which in the opinion of the <br />respective Directors of Planning will have a major impact on <br />drainage located with in three miles of the corporate limits <br />and any projects which will have a major impact upon the <br />water quality of any counny and/or city water impoundments; <br /> <br />4. The criteria will be recommended for adoption by the City <br />and County governing bodies as well the County and City <br />Planning Commission as a policy only and not as an ordinance. <br />The Mayor thanked Dr. Moore for the report and stated that <br />a work session will be set to discuss the report with the <br />Planning Commissions. <br /> <br />349 <br /> <br /> <br />
