Resolution re: Appointing <br />Viewers - Blenheim Avenue <br /> <br />Resolution re: Appointing <br />Viewers - Old Melbourne Rd. <br /> <br />Resolution re: Exonerating <br />Taxes for the Taxes for the <br />Tax Relief for the Elderly <br />Program <br /> <br />Ordinance re: Amending <br />Article I of Chapter 30 <br />City COde regarding local <br />Board of Social Services <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br />the City of Charlottesvitle that the institution by the <br />City Attorney of the current proceeding in the~Circuit <br />Court of the City of Charlottesville against the previous <br />owners of said property for the expenses incurr.ed by the <br />City of Charlottesville in completing the demolition of the <br />structure .and removal of accompanying debris at said location <br />is hereby approved and ratified and that the City Attorney <br />is hereby directed to continue to conduct such proceeding <br />or proceedings as are permitted by appropriate law to collect <br />the said expenses incurred by the City of Charlottesville. <br /> On motion by Mrs. 0'Brien, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION appointing viewers to consider a <br />request for the vacation of Blenheim Avenue between Ware <br />Street and Sixth Street, S. E., and Ware Street between <br />Blenheim Avenue and the northern boundary of Parcel 36 on <br />City Real Property Tax Map 27. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition <br />requesting vacation of Blenheim Avenue between Ware Street <br />and Sixth Street, S. E., and Ware Street between Blenheim <br />Avenue and the northern boundary of Parcel 36 on city Real <br />Property Tax Map 27; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notices <br /> required by §15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as <br /> amended,~ have been duly posted; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br /> the City of Charlottesville that Messrs. Mason S. Bryd, <br /> W. J. Copeland and H. P. Winn report in writing to,Council <br /> what~.inconvenience, if any, would result from such vacation. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr.~Gatewood <br /> <br /> the following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION appointing viewers to consider a <br /> request for the vacation of that portion of the abandoned <br /> right-of-way of Old Melbourne Road (fOrmerly State Route <br /> 653) lying between the eastern margin of the right-of-way <br /> of the mainline tracks of the Southern Railway Company, on <br /> the east, and the northeastern margin of the right-of-way <br /> to which Melbourne Road was realigned, on the west. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition <br /> requesting vacation of that portion of the abandoned <br /> right-of-way of Old Melbourne Road (formerly State Route <br /> 653) lying between the eastern margin of the right-of-way <br /> of the mainline of the Southern Railway Company, on the east, <br /> and the northeastern margin of the right-of-way to which <br /> Melbourne Road was rea%igned, on the west; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notices <br /> required by §15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as <br /> amended, have been duly posted; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br /> the City of Charlottesville that Messrs. Mason S. Byrd, <br /> J. W. Copeland an&';~H. P. Winn report in writing to Council <br /> what inconvenience, if any, would result from such <br /> vacation. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mrs. O'Brien the <br /> following resolution was unanimo.usly adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Treasurer has submitted a list <br /> of those property owners eligible for real estate relief <br /> for the elderly, as certified to him by the Commissioner <br /> of the Revenue under ~10-39 of the City Code; <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br /> Charlottesville that the City Treasurer is authorized to <br /> exonerate the respective amounts of taxes on properties <br /> comprising such list and that the City Treasurer be <br /> credited with the collection of the same in the amount of <br /> $59,091.47. <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ARTICLE I <br /> OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, <br /> BY ADDING A NEW SECTION 30-6.1 APPOINTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br /> SOCIAL SERVICES AS THE LOCAL BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES," was <br /> offered by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mrs. O'Brien and carried <br /> over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> <br />
