436 <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$46,086.70 - Airport <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br /> The Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood <br />and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: Mr. Albro. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $46,086.70 for the City's share <br />of the cost of improvements at the Airport, which was offered at <br />the meeting of the Council on September 14, 1978, was adopted by <br />the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. <br />Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Albro. <br /> <br /> A motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mrs. O'Brien that <br />Council meet in executive session to discuss a matter exempted <br />by Section 2.1-344(a)(1) of the Virginia Freedom of Information <br />Act, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. <br /> <br />Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and'Mrs, O'Brien. Noes: None <br />Absent: Mr. Albro. <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Presld~ent <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1978 <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> / <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Resolution re: Raffle <br />Permit - Oratorio Society <br /> <br />Mrs. As.hlin Smith - <br />Introduction <br />new president of McGuffey <br />Art Center <br /> <br />Mrs. Marion Nolan - <br />Paramount Theatre <br />Evaluation Committee <br /> <br /> The Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, <br />Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meeting of September 20, 1978 were <br /> <br />approved as presented. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Jan St. John addressed the Council'on behalf of the <br />Oratorio Society and requested a raffle permit to hOld a raffle <br />in early October. On m~tion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. <br />Albro the following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Oratorio Society of Charlottesville- <br />Albemarle, Inc., has duly applied for a permit to conduct a <br />raffle in compliance with ~17-19 of the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville, 1976, as amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Oratorio <br />Society of Charlottesville-Albemarle, Inc., meets the qualififactions <br />as outlined in ~17-19; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to the Oratorio <br />Society of Charlottesville-Albemarle, Inc., to conduct a <br />raffle in accordance with all the provisions of ~17-19 of the <br />Code of the City of Charlottesville for a period beginning <br />October 2, 1978 and ending December 31, 1978; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council <br />be directed to send a copy of'this resolution to the Board of <br />Directors of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Oratorio Society. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Ashlin Smith of the McGuffey Art Center addressed <br /> <br />the Council and introduced the new president of the McGuffey <br />Art Center, Tina Buck. Miss Buck requested the Council to <br />appoint a member to the McGuffey Art Board from the Council. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Marion Nolan, President of the Charlottesville-Albemarle <br />Foundation for the Encouragement of the Arts~ addressed the <br />Council and presented a report from the ParAmount Theatre <br />Evaluation Committee. She stated this committee was formed to <br />examine and evaluate the Paramount Theatre building as a-potential <br /> <br /> <br />
