W. from <br />R-2 to R-3 - Deferred <br /> <br />Consideration re: Ordinance <br />amending the city code with <br />regard to filing dates for <br />tax relief for the <br />elderly and disabled. <br /> <br /> (6) <br />for the MC <br />the Revised <br /> <br /> ~llaneous contingency of $15,000 <br /> i!ding Level 2 and exterior, shown on <br /> Cost Estimate dated September 8, 1978 <br /> and Phase 2 shall be moved to Phase 1. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND <br /> REORDAIN SECTION 2-89 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br /> CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, PERTAINING TO THE <br /> APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION," which <br /> was offered at the meeting of the Council on September <br /> 25, 1978, was defeated by the following recorded vote. <br /> Ayes: Mr. Buck andMrs. O'Brien. Noes: Mr. Albro, Mr. <br /> Brunton and Mr. Gatewood. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING <br /> AND DISCONTINUING A PORTION OF THE ABANDONED RIGHT-OF-WAY <br /> OF OLD MELBOURNE ROAD IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE," was <br /> offered by Mr. Buck, seconded by Mr. Albro and carried <br /> over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AIN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING <br /> AND DISCONTINUING A PORTION OF BLENHEIM AVENUE AND A PORTION <br /> OF WARE STREET IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE," was offered <br /> by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mrs. O'Brien and carried over <br /> to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> A petition to rezone from R-2 to R-3 property located <br /> at the southwest quadrant of Harris Road and 5th Street, <br /> <br /> S. W., on which a joint public hearing was held on October <br /> 10, 1978, was considered. Mr. Huja stated that the Planning <br /> Commission recommended that this request be denied for the <br /> following reasons: 1. It would be Contrary to the 1990 <br /> Land Use Plan; and 2. It would be incompatible with density <br /> patterns in the surrounding neighborhood. He stated that <br /> the Planning Commission ~uggested that the developer approach <br /> this site as a potential PUD, but if the petition for <br /> rezoning is denied there is a possibility that he would <br /> have to wait a year before reapplying. Action on this <br /> matter was deferred until the next meeting. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND <br />REORDAIN ~10-39 AND 830-12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE DATES <br />FOR FILING FOR EXEMPTION FROM REAL ESTATE TAX Ai~D FOR <br />RENTAL RELIEF FOR THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED," was offered <br />by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Albro and carried over to <br />the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck suggest'ed that the Council set up a program <br /> <br />of meetings in neighborhoods on an informal basis to <br />discuss concerns of the citizens. He suggested the meetings <br />be once a month or even dividing the Council so that two <br /> <br />4a5 <br /> <br /> <br />
