Ordinance re: Closing, <br />vacating and discontinuing <br />a portion of Blenheim Ave. <br />and a portion of Ware <br />Street <br /> <br /> The CoU~'i~:~t ~in special session on this date with <br /> the following members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. <br /> Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING <br />AND DISCONTINUING A PORTION OF BLENHEIM AVENUE AND A PORTION <br />OF WARE STREET IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE," which was <br />offered at the meeting of the Council on October 16, 1978, <br />was adopted by the following.recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />447 <br /> <br />Presid&nt <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, NOVEMBER <br /> 6, 1978 <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />Approval of minutes <br /> <br />Presentation: Ail- <br />America City Committee <br />Report <br /> <br />Public: Mr. Laurence <br />Whitlock <br /> <br /> The Council met in regular session on this date with <br /> the following members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. <br /> Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Absenn: None. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meeting of October 16, 1978 were <br /> approved as presented. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bill Downer, Chairman of the All-America City <br /> Committee addressed the Council and briefly reported the <br /> progress of his committee. He stated that the public <br /> has given excellent support to this undertaking. He <br /> stated that the Committee is divided into four subcommittees <br /> as follows: Steering Committee, Community Support <br /> Committee; Presentation Committee and Exhibit Committee. <br /> He requested the public to continue its support of this <br /> project. <br /> <br /> Mr. Laurence Whitlock, President of the Jefferson Park <br />Avenue Neighborhood Association addressed the Council <br />to remind them of a petition which was presented in August, <br />1977 requesting that density along Jefferson Park Avenue <br />between Emmet Street and Maury Avenue be limited to that <br />allowed by right in accordance with the 1990 Land Use <br />Plan, in order to protect and maintain the viability of <br />one and two family residential areas immediately adjacent <br />to this strip of Jefferson Park Avenue. Mr. Whitlock <br />stated that this matter was referred to the Planning <br />Commission for study and recommendation, but to date no <br />study of density has begun. The Mayor advised Mr. <br />Whitlock that he would be in touch with him after he <br />contacted the Chairman of the Planning Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />
