Staff Report re: Bids on Office Space for Housing Authority and Appropriation Appropriation re: $37,400 Front End Loader Appropriation re: $6,500 C & 0 Railway Station Re-Use Study Consideration re: $1,206 Virginia Municipal League -- Vepco study Resolution re: Authorizing City Manager to sign agreement -- w/ Dr. Charles Hurt The staff report was presented stating that the bids received for-constructing office space for the Housing Authority in.basement of City Hall were considerably in excess of the architects estimates. The report list three alternativeS:Alternative I calls for a continuation at the higher price;Alte~nat~ze II calls for the city to become the general contractor for a lesser price; and Alternative III calls fOr abondonment of the project with the authority staying in their present quarters. The staff recommends alternative II with a fall back to alternative I. The increase in price for alternative II is $11,5B3. After a lengthy discussion, on motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the following resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. BE IT.RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the sum of $11,583 is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the Capital Fund to expenditure account 05-00640 for further expenses for construction of office space in the City Hall basement for the charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority. The resolution appropriating $37,400 for front end loader, which was offered at the meeting of the Council on February 20, 1979, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayesi: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. The resolution~appropriating $6,500 for the C & 0 Railway Station Re-Use Study, which was offered at the meeting of the Council on February 20, 1979, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: Mr. Albro. On motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Buck the following resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the sum of $1,206 is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund to expenditure account 09-91020-5399 to pay the City's pro rata share of the cost of negotiations being conducted by the Virginia Municipal League for the establishment by contract of new Vepco electrical service rates' to be charged to municipalities. On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Mr. Buck the following resolution was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, ~n.d Mr. Gatewood. Noes: Mrs. O'Brien. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the City the following document, in form approved by the City Attorney: Agreement between Dr. Charles William Hurt and the to extend grading onto a portion of the adjacent property owned by the City of Charlottesville and used as the site of the Jackson-Via School. A copy of such document shall be kept on file with the~minutes of the Council meeting at which this resolution was adopted. On motion, by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Albro the following resolution was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Albro, Mr, Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None.
