Staff Report re: Bids <br />on Office Space for <br />Housing Authority and <br />Appropriation <br /> <br />Appropriation re: $37,400 <br />Front End Loader <br /> <br />Appropriation re: $6,500 <br />C & 0 Railway Station <br />Re-Use Study <br /> <br />Consideration re: $1,206 <br />Virginia Municipal <br />League -- Vepco study <br /> <br />Resolution re: Authorizing <br />City Manager to sign <br />agreement -- w/ Dr. <br />Charles Hurt <br /> <br /> The staff report was presented stating that the bids <br />received for-constructing office space for the Housing <br /> <br />Authority in.basement of City Hall were considerably in <br />excess of the architects estimates. The report list three <br />alternativeS:Alternative I calls for a continuation at the <br /> <br />higher price;Alte~nat~ze II calls for the city to become the <br />general contractor for a lesser price; and Alternative III <br />calls fOr abondonment of the project with the authority <br />staying in their present quarters. The staff recommends <br />alternative II with a fall back to alternative I. The <br /> <br />increase in price for alternative II is $11,5B3. After <br />a lengthy discussion, on motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by <br />Mr. Gatewood the following resolution was offered and <br /> <br />carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT.RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that the sum of $11,583 is hereby appropriated <br />from the unappropriated balance of the Capital Fund to <br />expenditure account 05-00640 for further expenses for <br />construction of office space in the City Hall basement <br />for the charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority. <br /> <br />The resolution appropriating $37,400 for front end <br /> <br />loader, which was offered at the meeting of the Council on <br />February 20, 1979, was adopted by the following recorded <br />vote. Ayesi: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood <br /> <br />and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br />The resolution~appropriating $6,500 for the C & 0 <br /> <br />Railway Station Re-Use Study, which was offered at the <br />meeting of the Council on February 20, 1979, was adopted <br />by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Brunton, Mr. <br />Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: Mr. Albro. <br /> On motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Buck the <br /> <br />following resolution was offered and carried over to the <br /> <br />next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that the sum of $1,206 is hereby <br />appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the <br />General Fund to expenditure account 09-91020-5399 to <br />pay the City's pro rata share of the cost of negotiations <br />being conducted by the Virginia Municipal League for the <br />establishment by contract of new Vepco electrical <br />service rates' to be charged to municipalities. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Mr. Buck the <br /> <br />following resolution was adopted by the following recorded <br /> <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, ~n.d Mr. <br /> <br />Gatewood. Noes: Mrs. O'Brien. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, that the City Manager is hereby authorized <br />to execute on behalf of the City the following document, in <br />form approved by the City Attorney: <br /> <br /> Agreement between Dr. Charles William Hurt and the <br /> to extend grading onto a portion of the adjacent <br /> property owned by the City of Charlottesville and <br /> used as the site of the Jackson-Via School. <br /> <br /> A copy of such document shall be kept on file <br />with the~minutes of the Council meeting at which this <br />resolution was adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion, by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Albro the <br />following resolution was adopted by the following recorded <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Albro, Mr, Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood <br /> <br />and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> <br />
