:37'4 <br /> <br />CONSIDERATION RE: <br />ORDINANCE - <br />BAINBRIDGE ST, <br /> <br />ORDINANCE RE ~ <br />SECTION 35E <br /> <br />CONSIDERATION RE: <br />ORDINANCE RE: <br />CAROLINE AVE. <br /> <br />OP~)INANCE RE: <br />HOLIDAY DRIVE <br /> <br />RESIGNATION RE: <br />CENTRAL CITY COMM. <br /> <br />REQUEST RE: <br />AMENDMENT RE: <br />ARTICLE XII <br /> <br />PARTICIPATE IN OTHER APPROVED TRAINING PROGRAMS AT LEAST BIENIALLY AFTER COMPLETING <br />INITIAL RECRUIT TRAINING; AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, IT IS EXPECTED THAT WITHIN FIVE YEARS THE RECRUIT TRAINING PROGRAM <br />WILL BECOME SO COMPREHENSIVE 'f]4AT THE TIME REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE RECRUIT TRAINING <br />PROGRAM WILL NOT BE LESS THAN T~ELVE WEEKS OF FULL-TIME ATTENDANCE AND THE PERIODIC <br />RE]RAINING PROGRAMS ARE EXPECTED TO BE EXPANDED ACCORDINGLY; AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, SOCIETY IS PRESENTLY DEMANDING SUCH A HIGH LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE FROM <br />OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE PERSONNEL THAT IT IS NECESSARY TO <br />PROVIDE ADDITIONAL TRAINING BEYOND THE MINIMUMS REQUIRED BY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING <br />STANDARDS COMMISSION; AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE COST OF SENDING ALL OF OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TO ESTABLI.~ED <br />]RAINING CENTERS AT DISTANT LOCATIONS WILL BECOME PROHIBITATIVELY EXPENSIVE IN THE NEAR <br />FUTURE; AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, A REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE ]RAINING CENTER APPEARS TO BE THE MOST <br />DESIRABLE WAY TO PROVIDE THE REQUISIT COMPREHENSIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE <br />TRAINING PROGRAMS AT A REASONABLE COST TO TNE PARTICIPATING LOCAL GOVERNMENTS; THEREFORE <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, THAT BECAUSE OF <br />TPE GREAT BENEFITS TO BE REALIZED AS A RESULT OF SUCH TRAINING PROGRAMS AND THE <br />ANTICIPATED MONETARY SAVINGS WHICH WILL RESULT FROM A CONVENIENT REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE <br />TRAINING CENTER, Tt-~T THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE WILL PROVIDE $422.11 FOR THE YEAR 1974 <br />IN FINANCIAL ASSISTAf~CE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SPONSORSHIP OF A REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE <br />]RAINING CENTER, SOCH FUNDS TO BE PAID FROM THE TRAINING BUDGET OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT. <br /> <br /> ~ ORDINANCE ENTITLED '' AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND RELOCATING AN ALLEY <br />EXTENDING IN A NORTHERLY DIRECTION FROM THE NORTHERN MARGIN OF BAINBRIDGE STREET,~' WAS <br />OFFERED BY MR. GILLIAM, SECONDED BY MRS. RINEHART AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING <br />FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MRS. RINEHART, SECONDED BY MR. VAN YAHRES, SECTION 35-I OF ARTICLE X-B WAS <br />AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS, BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE. AYES: MR. FIFE, MRS. RINEHART AND <br />MR. VAN YAHRES. ABSTAINED: MR. GILLIAM. ABSENT: MR. NOES: NONE. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED '' AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN APPENDIX II OF THE CODE <br /> <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1965, BY ADDING THEREIN AN ARTICLE NUMBERED X-B CONTAINING <br />SECTION 35E THRU 35I IN ORDER TO ALLOW A HIGHER RESIDENTIAL"DENSITY IN CERTAIN ZONES WITH <br />A SPECIAL PERMIT," WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ON JANUARY 22, 1974, <br />WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE.
