<br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF TEEVIRGINIA AREA DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1968,

<br /> WHEREAS, THE STATE IS REQUESTING AN INCREASING AMOUNT OF ASSISTANCE
<br />IN COORDINATING AND ASSISTING LOCAL PLANNING EFFORTS~ AND

<br /> WHEREAS, THE COST OF PROVIDING THESE SERVICES IS INCREASING DUE TO
<br />INFLATION AND INCREASED LOCAL AND STATE NEEDS; AND
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, THE QUALITY OF THE SERVICES THUS PROVIDED DEPENDS ON
<br />ADEQUATE FINANCING,

<br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE
<br />THAT COUNCIL ENDORSE THE PROPOSED CHANGE IN THE VIRGINIA AREA DEVELOPMENT
<br />ACT OF 1968, AS AMENDED, TO PROVIDE FOR A STATE MINIMUM ANNUAL GRANT OF
<br />$50,000 TO EACH OF THE PLANNING DISTRICT COMMISSIONS THROUGHOUT THE
<br />COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, AND
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE CLERK OF THE COUNCIL BE DIRECTED 113

<br />COUNCIL GENERAL POWERS WITH RESPECT TO THE REGULATION OF TRAFFIC ON THE STREETS
<br />OF THIS CITY INCLUDING THOSE FOWERS ENUMERATED IN ~14 OF THE CITY CHARTER
<br />AND IN ARTICLE 6 OF CHAPTER 18 (SECTIONS 15.1-888, ET SEQ) OF TITLE 15.1
