20 <br />Mr. Caravati said he supports what he calls the neo - traditional, but said both <br />design alternatives need a lot of work. <br /> <br />Ms. Richards said her preference has been the traditional design, but she has <br />changed her mind and now supports the modern design with more modification. She said <br />the atrium design alternative allows the exterior features of the existing building with the <br />balcony to be shown. She said this respects the original exterior. <br /> <br />Mr. Cox he has been very close to the process and has served as Council's <br />designee on the Steering Committee. He said he thinks the City did the right thing in <br />bringing in the design consultant. He said major concessions such as parking have been <br />made to the County and there has been give and take all along. He said a courtyard has <br />been gained in the process. He said that when one has doubts he hopes they would <br />concede to the Councilor on the Committee. He said we should be mindful that we need <br />to create a welcoming environment, one that needs to be open. He said he welcomes the <br />glass and light filled area and supports the contextual design. <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch said he has no doubts about how he feels. He said he finds the <br />traditional design attrac tive and the modern design unattractive. He said he is not against <br />the idea of a modern design if it can be made attractive. He said the traditional design is <br />a little cliched. He said he hopes we can have more unique design details. He said there <br />have been several iterations of the modern design but he does not find them handsome. <br />He said we should not spend any more time on the issue and he supports going with the <br />traditional. <br /> <br />Mr. Cox said expediting the project should not be a factor in the decisio n. <br /> <br />Mr. Schilling called for a vote on the matter. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Schilling, seconded by Mr. Lynch, Council approved the <br />traditional design for the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilli ng. Noes: Mr. Cox and Ms. Richards. <br />APPOINTMENT: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Richards, seconded by Mr. Schilling, Mr. Michael Murphy was <br />reappointed to a three - year term on the Region Ten Community Services Board by the <br />following vote. Ay es: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. <br />Noes: None.
