2 <br />CONSENT AGEN DA <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Richards removed the Snow Removal Ordinance from the consent agenda, <br />Mr. Schilling removed the Dog Park Ordinance from the consent agenda, and Mr. <br />Caravati removed the SPCA contract from the consent agenda. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Schilling, the following consent <br />agenda items were approved by Council, with the minutes amended by Mr. Schilling, by <br />the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. Noes: <br />None. Absent: Mr. Lynch. <br /> <br />a. Minutes of Septem ber 15 <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />b. : $52,079 - Literary Loan Payoff (Buford School) <br />nd <br /> (2 reading) <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that <br />the sum of $52,079 is hereby transferred from the unappropriated balance of the Debt <br />Servi ce Fund to expenditure account 31 - 130 - 101071 - 54102 to make final payment to the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia on a Literary Fund loan to the City in 1991 (renovations to <br />Buford School). The Director of Finance is hereby authorized to pay $52,079 to the <br />Commonw ealth of Virginia for the above - stated purpose, and obtain a release of the lien <br />on the Buford School property. <br /> <br />nd <br />APPROPRIATION <br />c. : $139,962 - TANF Grant (2 reading) <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that <br />$139,962 f rom the State Department of Social Services (passing through federal funds) is <br />hereby appropriated to 12 - 161 - 062321 - 53199 in the Social Service Fund for the purpose <br />of continued funding for employment assistance through May 31, 2004. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />d. : $56 ,527 - Albemarle County Funding for Transit <br />nd <br /> (2 reading) <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that <br />$56,527 received from Albemarle County is hereby appropriated to 45 - 191 - 141410 - <br />50111 in the Transit Fund. These fund s are to supplement the County’s previous <br />appropriation and will provide extended service on CTS Route 5. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />e. : $2,250 - MetroTech Assistance Grant for Weed and Seed <br /> (carried over) <br /> <br />APPROPRIATIONS <br />f. :$3,000 - Law Enforcement Grants (2) ( carried over) <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />g. : $300,000 - School Funds for Capital Projects (carried over) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />h. : Authorizing Worker's Compensation Settlement <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia: <br /> <br />It appearing to be in the be st interests of the City, and it being at the request of our <br />former employee, who is represented by counsel, we hereby approve a lump sum <br />settlement of a workers’ compensation claim in the amount of $50,000.00, all as agreed <br />between staff and the employee (whose name is not stated here for reasons of <br />confidentiality). The Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make payment from the <br />Risk Management Fund in accordance with the settlement terms. <br /> <br />The approval hereby given for the entire settlement is con ditioned upon formal <br />approval of the settlement by the Workers’ Compensation Commission of the State of <br />Virginia. <br /> <br /> <br />
