2 CONSENT AGEN DA Ms. Richards removed the Snow Removal Ordinance from the consent agenda, Mr. Schilling removed the Dog Park Ordinance from the consent agenda, and Mr. Caravati removed the SPCA contract from the consent agenda. On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Schilling, the following consent agenda items were approved by Council, with the minutes amended by Mr. Schilling, by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Lynch. a. Minutes of Septem ber 15 APPROPRIATION b. : $52,079 - Literary Loan Payoff (Buford School) nd (2 reading) BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $52,079 is hereby transferred from the unappropriated balance of the Debt Servi ce Fund to expenditure account 31 - 130 - 101071 - 54102 to make final payment to the Commonwealth of Virginia on a Literary Fund loan to the City in 1991 (renovations to Buford School). The Director of Finance is hereby authorized to pay $52,079 to the Commonw ealth of Virginia for the above - stated purpose, and obtain a release of the lien on the Buford School property. nd APPROPRIATION c. : $139,962 - TANF Grant (2 reading) BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that $139,962 f rom the State Department of Social Services (passing through federal funds) is hereby appropriated to 12 - 161 - 062321 - 53199 in the Social Service Fund for the purpose of continued funding for employment assistance through May 31, 2004. APPROPRIATION d. : $56 ,527 - Albemarle County Funding for Transit nd (2 reading) BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that $56,527 received from Albemarle County is hereby appropriated to 45 - 191 - 141410 - 50111 in the Transit Fund. These fund s are to supplement the County’s previous appropriation and will provide extended service on CTS Route 5. APPROPRIATION e. : $2,250 - MetroTech Assistance Grant for Weed and Seed (carried over) APPROPRIATIONS f. :$3,000 - Law Enforcement Grants (2) ( carried over) APPROPRIATION g. : $300,000 - School Funds for Capital Projects (carried over) RESOLUTION h. : Authorizing Worker's Compensation Settlement BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia: It appearing to be in the be st interests of the City, and it being at the request of our former employee, who is represented by counsel, we hereby approve a lump sum settlement of a workers’ compensation claim in the amount of $50,000.00, all as agreed between staff and the employee (whose name is not stated here for reasons of confidentiality). The Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make payment from the Risk Management Fund in accordance with the settlement terms. The approval hereby given for the entire settlement is con ditioned upon formal approval of the settlement by the Workers’ Compensation Commission of the State of Virginia.
