4 <br /> Mr. Cox recommended that the picture on the cover of the brochure be changed to <br />reflect where we are going, not where we are now. <br /> <br /> Regarding the hiring process, Ms. Richards said she does not think there need s to <br />be a big public process. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said he thinks Councilors should meet final candidates. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch suggested that other stakeholders such as a representative of VDRPT <br />and Transportation Commissioner Butch Davies be involved. <br /> <br />Next Steps <br /> <br /> Ms. Muel ler said the scope of work for the origin/destination study needs to be <br />developed; hiring of the Transit Manager should occur in 90 - 120 days; and VDRPT will <br />be asked for the rest of the money for the BRT study. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox asked for a time frame, and Ms. M ueller said she will follow up with <br />dates. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said he would like a resolution of the parking issue in the next 90 days, <br />including the mechanisms and examination of the feasibility. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said she would like the development proposal on West Main Street <br />to be incorporated with the City plan. She said we have to capture opportunities when <br />they come up. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said if we are not gong to do a backbone system then it does not make <br />sense to do structured parking. He suggesting having VDRPT p ay for structured parking. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox asked Mr. Lynch to show where VDRPT has paid for parking in <br />Virginia. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mueller said that federal funds were being looked at to use for replacement <br />parking when development was proposed for Union Station. <br /> <br /> Ms. Chri stenson said a follow up item will be to examine the use of federal <br />dollars for parking. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards suggested that a lobbying effort be launched between staff, VTA <br />officials and our legislative delegation to get yield to bus legislation. <br /> Mr. Lynch sai d he would like a commitment that Neighborhood Development <br />Services will get an answer to the pre - emption idea and an estimate of the cost within a <br />year. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />______________________________ ____________________________ <br />President Clerk <br />
