Ms. Spence thanked Council for creating the advisory committee, but said <br />rules and guidelines should be established for boards of this type. <br /> <br /> Mr. Earl Smith, owner of Firehouse Bar and Grill on Grady Avenue, a member of <br />the advisory committee for Preston Commons, said the marketplace is not calling for this <br />project. He said there is pretty much consensus on the advisory committee that this is not <br />the time to move forward with this project. <br /> <br />th <br /> Mr. Karen Firehock, 311 5 Street, S.W., Planning Commission representative on <br />the Preston Commons advisory committee, said sh e understands there is reluctance on the <br />part of some Councilors to move forward with this project. She cautioned Council <br />against asking for proposals from developers and then not even interviewing them. Ms. <br />Firehock said if the advisory committee goes f orward it needs to have clear guidelines for <br />a process. <br /> <br /> Mr. Andrew Slater, manager of Crystalphonics Studio on Grady Avenue, said a <br />lot of money has been put into a state of the art studio. Mr. Slater said he feels it is odd <br />that a Preston Commons commi ttee dealt with this issue rather than opening it up to the <br />public and feels it is odd that there was an RFQ process rather than an RFP. Mr. Slater <br />said he was told by the Mayor that the Torti Gallas study showed development in the <br />triangle, but he found this was not true. He urged Council to vote the project down and <br />recommended that a farmers market be looked at for that area. <br /> <br /> Mr. John Coleman, co - founder of Central Battery on Grady Avenue, expressed <br />concern that political alliances have been made aro und this project. Mr. Coleman said <br />Mr. Lynch originally opposed the RFP for the project, and he asked that he remember <br />how he originally voted and to make the right choice again. <br /> <br /> Mr. Kevin Nobles, 1217 Sherwood Road, said he does not question Councilors <br />support for the Preston Commons project and feels that they have good intentions. He <br />said it is easy to support something and not see its faults. He suggested that traffic <br />signalizing and pedestrian access to the area be improved. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati removed the Resolution Adopting Interim Entrance Corridor Design <br />Guidelines from the consent agenda. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Richards, seconded by Mr. Lynch, the following consent <br />agenda items were approved by the following vote.
