RINEHART~ <br />SECONDED BY HR, MOUNT~ A PUBLIC HEARING WAS SET FOR OCTOBER 16~ 1967 AT 7:30 P, <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION ADVISING THAT THEY <br />WERE UNABLE TO HOLD THE PUBLIC HEARING ON THE REQUEST TO REZONE 2005 JEFFERSON PARK <br />AVENUE~ AND HAD ADVISED THE PETITIONER TO RESUBMIT HIS PETITION. <br /> <br /> THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT THE F. A. A. HAS APPROVED A GRANT OF <br />~13~000.00 TO COVER 50¢ OF THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING A RESCUE AND FIRE VEHICLE BUILDING <br />AT THE AIRPORT~ AND RECOMMENDED THAT AN APPROPRIATION BE MADE FOR THE CITY'S SHARE. ON <br />MOTION BY MR. RINEHART~ SECONDED BY MR. MOUNT~ THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED AND <br />CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION: <br /> <br /> BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT <br /> <br />BE AND THE SAME IS HERESY APPROPRIATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION, <br /> <br /> THE FOLLOWING REPORT WAS PRESENTED FROM THE CITY MANAGER: <br /> <br /> SEPTEMBER 25~ 1967 <br /> <br />REPORT RE: HIGH ST. <br />PARKING LOT <br /> <br />To THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE> VIRGINIA <br /> <br />GENTLEMEN: <br /> <br /> As PER YOUR INSTRUCTIONS I HAVE NEGOTIATED WITH THE JACKSON PARK REALTY Co.~ <br />INC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE HIGH STREET PARKING LOT BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH STREETS. <br /> <br /> THIS LOT HAS BEEN LEASED BY THE CiTY FOR ABOUT 14 YEARS AND THE PRESENT <br />LEASE EXPIRES ON SEPTEMBER 30~ 1967. THE PRESENT RENT tS AT THE RATE OF <br />~8~400,00 PER YEAR AND THE AMOUNT OF REVENUE RECEIVED FROM THE PARKING METERS <br />IN THIS LOT DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30~ 1967 WAS ~7~490.14, <br /> <br /> THE OWNERS HAVE AGREED TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT TO RENT THE PROPERTY TO THE <br />CITY FOR A TWELVE MONTH PERIOD ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1968 FOR THE SUM OF ~8~400.00 <br />AND TO SELL THE PROPERTY TO THE CITY ON THAT DATE FOR THE SUM OF ~100~000.00. <br />THIS AGREEMENT WOULD EXCLUDE 12 FEET OF LAND ON THE SOUTHERN EDGE OF LOT 206 <br />WHICH IS NOT USED OR NEEDED BY THE CITY FOR THE EXISTING PARKING LOT. <br /> <br />TRis PRICE ts IN KEEPING WITH THE AMOUNTS PAID FOR THE CiTY COURTHOUSE <br />PROPERTY AND ~ RESPECTFULLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU ACCEPT THE OFFER AND AUTHORIZE <br />THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT. ~ BELIEVE THAT A PARKING LOT SHOULD BE <br />MAINTAINED IN THIS AREA FOR THE GOOD OF OUR CiTY TO SERVE NOT ONLY THE BUSINESS <br />AREA BUT TO ALSO PROVIDE PARKING FOR TOURISTS WHO VISIT THE OLD SECTION OF THE <br />CITY AND ALSO TO SERVE THE PUBLIC FOR MEETINGS HELD AT THE NEW COURTHOUSE AND <br />OTHER BUILDINGS IN THE AREA, <br /> <br />JEBJR:EP <br /> <br />RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED~ <br /> <br />JIM BOWEN (SIGNED) <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />ON MOTION BY MR.
