He noted that this is noise that the <br />City cannot do anything about, but people move into areas knowing that it is present. He <br />said this could be used as a baseline. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Peter Kleeman, 407 Hedge Street, said that Mclntire Park is a sensitive <br />recreation area and there will be significant noise impacts when the Meadowcreek <br />Parkway is built through it. He suggested that this money be spent elsewhere. He said he <br />lives next door to construction being done by Hospice of the Piedmont which has removed <br />parking spaces. He said parking has also been removed on 4th Street. He suggested that <br />public parking be allowed at night in currently restricted spaces at Court Square. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati noted that Council will be considering changes to parking regulations <br />in the near future. <br /> <br /> Mr. Art Keyser, Edgewood Lane, expressed concern about noise from a <br />commercial sweeper at Barracks Road Shopping Center which occurs between midnight <br />and 8:00 a.m. He said duration of noise is important, noting that train noise is brief, but <br />this noise occurs for an hour and a half. He asked Council to consider restrictions on <br />businesses and the contractors they employ. <br /> <br /> Mr. Craig Urekar, 2212 Wayne Avenue, agreed with comments made by Ms. <br />Hamilton, noting that when he made complaints about Best Buy he was told by the police <br />that they could not fill out the report because it was not an offense. He said that Best Buy <br />also has sweeper trucks. He said his main concern with Best Buy is the noise from the <br />stereo bays. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Gerkin said the noise from Best <br />Buy's stereo bays occurs up until 11:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown asked if the current ordinance covers car stereos being worked on, and <br />Ms. Kelley said she will check on this. <br /> <br /> Ms. Olga Sarmento, 2212 Wayne Avenue, said there is not only a noise problem <br />from Best Buy, there is also a problem with vulgar profanity coming from the stereo bays. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />President Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
