NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, December 5, 2005 AT 6:30 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference Room. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM - December 5, 2005 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Lynch, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None) to meet in closed session for the discussion and consideration of prospective candidates to City boards and commissions as authorized by Section 2.2-371 i(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Ms. Hamilton, Council certified by the following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. COUNCIL CHAMBER- December 5, 2005 Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Dr. Brown said that as Mayor he would like to apologize for the contentious parts of the last Council meeting. He said our conduct sets an example for the community, and the contentiousness overshadowed the thoughtful comments made by the public. He said one Councilor refused to stop speaking when he was asked to do so. He said the Mayor's gavel is to be immediately respected. He said he is confident it will not happen again.
