NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Monday, December 5, 2005 AT 6:30 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox <br /> <br />SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM - December 5, 2005 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Lynch, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. <br />Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None) to meet in <br />closed session for the discussion and consideration of prospective candidates to City <br />boards and commissions as authorized by Section 2.2-371 i(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Ms. Hamilton, Council certified by the <br />following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. <br />Schilling. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only <br />public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the <br />Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed <br />session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER- December 5, 2005 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said that as Mayor he would like to apologize for the contentious parts <br />of the last Council meeting. He said our conduct sets an example for the community, and <br />the contentiousness overshadowed the thoughtful comments made by the public. He said <br />one Councilor refused to stop speaking when he was asked to do so. He said the Mayor's <br />gavel is to be immediately respected. He said he is confident it will not happen again. <br /> <br /> <br />
