4 <br /> Dr. Brown suggested that Council focus on the overall strategies for this vision <br />theme rather than the action plans. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said using solar heat for municipal pools provides one of the faster <br />paybacks, and he suggested making some nod to that. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton asked if it is included anywhere to investigate alternative materials <br />and technology when replacing old systems as a goal, and Ms. Riddervold said that is <br />built in. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell suggested add explore. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said it would give philosophical direction. <br /> <br />Strategy II: City-wide EMS implementation. <br /> <br /> Councilors were supportive of this strategy. <br /> <br />Strategy III: Environmental marketing – private sector/public sector. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said there is nothing about schools, and he suggested it be woven into <br />environmental education. <br /> <br />Strategy IV: Environmental management plans. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said we should put in having the ability to be flexible on how to reduce <br />nitrogen and phosphorus, and Ms. Mueller suggested adding that under the stormwater <br />strategy. <br /> <br />Strategy V: Sustainable stormwater program that addresses infrastructure, drainage and <br />water quality challenges/goals. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said more detail on this will come during the budget process or at <br />a work session after the budget. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said a couple of things are not included: mitigation for Ragged <br />Mountain and identifying replacement park land and completing the Rivanna Greenbelt <br />Trail and helping to secure permanent easements. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tolbert said the Greenbelt Trail is included in the healthy cities vision. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said the replacement park land may also fold into that. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said there is nothing in this strategy about reduction of waste. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />_____________________________ ____________________________ <br />President Clerk <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
