2 <br /> Ms. Ann Carter, 715 Orangedale Avenue, representing her mother’s property at <br />thth <br />324 6 Street, S.W., thanked Council for holding the April 12 meeting on the historic <br />designation which gave the Fifeville neighbors the opportunity voice their opinions about <br />the designation. She asked Council to stop the National Registry designation nomination. <br />She said the report is inconclusive and not well document. She specifically asked that <br />Section 8, page 118 of the report be removed. <br /> <br /> Ms. Naomi Roberts, 1140 St. Clair Avenue, said that longevity residents are being <br />penalized with higher taxes and fees, and now we will have to pay for ambulance service. <br />She said once rescue squad volunteers are gone they will not come back. She asked that <br />Council wait until they get the report from the oversight committee before deciding to do <br />something. <br /> <br /> Ms. Tatyana Paton, 2209 Jefferson Park Avenue, invited Council to participate in <br />the week long Earth Week activities, which will include 15 different events. <br /> <br />COUNCIL RESPONSES TO MATTERS BY THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> <br />Dr. Brown said that the oversight committee will be appointed to identify issues <br />and make recommendations about EMS, and he looks forward to working together on the <br />issues. <br /> <br />th <br /> Mr. Lynch thanked the Fifeville residents who met on April 12. He said he <br />learned a lot and is digesting the comments. He said he heard that Fifeville residents are <br />more interested in social preservation than historic preservation, and said we should <br />probably start with that. <br /> <br /> Referring to the EMS proposal, Ms. Hamilton said that it is possible for people to <br />be presented with the same set of facts and disagree. She expressed concern about <br />disparaging comments from two speakers during matters by the public. She said the <br />money for EMS will not be programmed until the report is made. She said there will still <br />be a need to expand and build new fire facilities. Regarding Fifeville historic <br />designation, she said again people presented with the same facts disagree. She said we <br />have to resolve the process issues. She said the neighborhood should not have the <br />historic designation forced on it. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said he appreciates the work of ACCT and their proposals, and hopes <br />we can move expeditiously on them. Mr. Norris said he endorses signing on to the ONE <br />Campaign. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Hamilton asked that the CDBG and HOME appropriations be removed from <br />the consent agenda. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Ms. Hamilton, the following consent <br />agenda items were approved by the following vote.
