52 <br />THE COMMISSION THINKS IS REASONABLE ANO SOUND. DEVELOPMENT WITHIN <br />THIS AREA SHOULD FOLLOW A SEQUENCE BEGINNING NEAR THE CITY LIMITS <br />ANp THEN PROCEED OUTIJARO. BERKLEY IS NOT LOCATED WITHIN THE PRESENT <br />URBAN AREA AND IS ONLY NEAR THE DESIRED ULTIMATE URBAN AREA. IT IS <br />THEREFORE, FELT THAT IT WOULD BE UNWISE TO SERVE BERKLEY WITH CITY <br />UTILITIES, AT THIS TIME. <br />2. THE PRESENT ORDINANCE REQUIRING CITY WATER SERVICE BEFORE <br />PERMITTING CITY SEWER CONNECTIONS IS PRACTICAL AND SOUND. IT IS, <br />THEREFORE FELT BY THIS COMM-SSION THAT IT WOULD BE UNWISE TO BREAK <br />THIS ORDINANCE AND THEREBY SET A PRECEDENT OF EXTENDING SEWER <br />SERVICE INTO AREAS PRESENTLY UNSERVED BY WATER. <br />YOURS TRULY, <br />JMR:RD <br />J. MAIN STREET <br />SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED FOR PARKING METERS FOR WEST MAIN STREET. <br />THE RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING ~1~,500.00 FOR TWO-WAY RADIO SYSTEM FOR THE <br />APPROPRIATION: TWO-WAY FIRE DEPARTMENT, WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ON SEPTEMBER <br />RADIO SYSTEM - FIRE DEPT. <br />23, 1957, WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR,COLEMAN, MR. MICHIE, <br />MR, SCRIBNER AND MR. WEINBERG. NOES: NONE. <br />THE RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $4,503.63 FOR UTILITIES IN GRACE STREET, <br />APPROPRIATION: UTILITIES <br />GRACE ST., JEFF. WOODS JEFFERSON WOODS SUBDIVISION AND BARRACKS ROAD, WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING <br />SUB. & BARRACKS RD. <br />OF THE COUNCIL ON SEPTEMBER 23, 1957, WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED ViDTE: <br />AYES: MR. COLEMAN, MR, MICHIE, MR. SCRIBNER AND MR. WEINBERG. NOES: NONE. <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT THE OTHER CEMETERIES IN THE CITY <br />HAD STARTED USING AN INEXPENSIVE CONCRETE VAULT IN PLACE OF THE WOODEN BOXES. <br />MATTER RE: USE OF <br />CONCRETE VAULTS MR.BOWEN STATED THAT THESE VAULTS WERE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS A MEANS OF REDUCING <br />IN GRAVES <br />SUNKEN GRAVES, THEREBY REDUCING MAINTENANCE COSTS OF THE CEMETERIES AND <br />RECOMMENDED THAT THE CITY CEMETERIES INAUGURATE THE USE OF THESE VAULTS. MR. <br />INCREASE IN FEE FOR BOWEN ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT THE GRAVE OPENING FEES BE ADJUSTED SINCE THE COST <br />OPENING GRAVES <br />RECOMMENDED. OF OPENING AND CLOSING A GRAVE EXCEEDS THE PRESENT FEE. ON MOTION BY MR.COLEMAN, <br />SECONDED BY MR.SCRIBNER, THE CITY ATTORNEY WAS REQUESTED TO PREPARE AN ORDINANCE <br />INCORPORATING THE ABOVE RECOMMENDATIONS. <br />ON MOTION THE MEETING ADJOURNED. <br />CLERK PRESIDENT <br />
