36 <br />BUILDERS WITH THE FULL KNOWLEDGE THAT CITY SANITARY SEWAGE LINES WERE NOT <br />AVAILABLE TO THESE PROPERTIES. HE ALSO STATED, HOWEVER, THAT SINCE THE <br />CONSTRUCTION OF THE ROUTE ~25O BY-PASS, THAT SANITARY SEWAGE SERVICE COULD BE <br />MADE AVAILABLE TO THESE PROPERTIES AT A TOTAL COST OF APPROXIMATELY $B,OOO.OO. <br />THE CITY MANAGER STATED THAT IN THE EVENT THESE PROPERTY OWNERS WISHED TO INSTALL <br />A SANITARY SEWAGE LINE, THAT HE FELT THAT THE CITY SHOULD CONTRIBUTE $3OO.OO FOR EA( <br />OF THE SIX HOUSES WHICH COULD BE SERVED BY THIS LINE, THIS BEING THE AVERAGE AMOUNT <br />WHICH THE CITY PAYS FOR SEWERS IN NEW SUBDIVISION DEVELOPMENTS IN THE CITY. <br />A MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THAT THESE PETITIONERS BE <br />NOTIFIED OF THIS OFFER WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />A COMMUNICATION FROM THE CITY SERGEANT STATING THAT ONE OF HIS JAILORS WAS <br />MATTER RE' CITY SGT. REQUEST ILL, AND REQUESTING THAT HE BE AUTHORIZED TO EMPLOY THREE PART TIME DEPUTIES INSTEAI <br />ADDITIONAL PART TIME DEPUTY OF TWO WAS PRESENTED. ON MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THE <br />FOREGOING REQUEST WAS UNANIMOUSLY GRANTED. <br />THE RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $28,000.00 FOR WATER LINES AND $17,000.00 FOR <br />APPROPRIATION - WATER AND GAS LINES, WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE LAST REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL, WAS <br />GAS LINES <br />ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR. DAVIS, MR. MICHIE, MR. SCRIBNER <br />AND MR. WEINBERG. NOES: NONE. <br />THE CITY MANAGER PRESENTED A COST ESTIMATE FOR THE EXTENSION OF WATER AND <br />GAS LINES FOR INSIDE THE CITY LIMITS TO ROUGEMONT AVENUE WHICH IS OUTSIDE THE <br />WATER AND GAS LINES - <br />ROUGEMONT AVENUE CITY LIMITS. HE STATED THAT THE CITY~S PORTION, OR ONE-HALF OF THE COST OF <br />THE LINES INSIDE THE CITY, WOULD AMOUNT TO $814.48, AND RECOMMENDED THAT THIS <br />BE DONE. ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER, THE FOLLOWING <br />RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br />APPROPRIATION - WATER AND BE IT RESOLVED SY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />GAS LINES ROUGEMONT AVE. <br />THAT 814.48 BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED AS THE CITY~S <br />PORTION OF THE COST OF EXTENDING WATER AND GAS LINES TO ROUGEMONT AVENUE. <br />THE CITY MANAGER PRESENTED A REPORT AND SUGGESTED THAT THE STATE HIGHWAY <br />DEPARTMENT BE REQUESTED TO PERMIT THE APPRAISAL WORK ON THE ROUTE 2O BRIDGE TO <br />MATTER RE: APPRAISAL WORK CONTINUE WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE CITY WILL ADVANCE THE MONEY TO PAY THE <br />ROUTE 2O BRIDGE <br />APPRAISERS WHEN THE WORK IS COMPLETED AND WITH THE FURTHER UNDERSTANDING THAT <br />THE STATE WILL REIMBURSE THE CITY FOR THE STATE AND FEDERAL SHARE, WHICH IS 75~, <br />AS SOON AS FEDERAL FUNDS ARE MADE AVAILABLE. ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY <br />MR. SCRIBNER, THE CITY MANAGER WAS INSTRUCTED TO MAKE SUCH A REQUEST TO THE <br />STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. <br />MATTER RE: RETIREMENT PLAN THE COMMITTEE TO STUDY THE CITY~S RETIREMENT PLAN SUBMITTED A REPORT AND <br />CARRIED OVER REQUESTED THAT ACTION ON THE REPORT BE DELAYED UNTIL THE NEXT MEETING IN ORDER <br />TO GIVE ALL MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL AN OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY THE REPORT. <br />THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCES ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 3O, 195' <br />ANNUAL REPORT WAS SUBMITTED, AND ON MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR.
