LEE -- and that <br />HOUSING REFERENDUM - QUESTION A, continuance of authority FOR received the <br />highest number of votes cast; and that HOUSING REFERENDUM - QUESTION B. <br />Construction of Public Housing FOR receivd the highest number of votes cast. <br />and that for <br />DOG REFERENDUM - Restraint of Dogs - FOR received the highest number of votes. <br />Given under our hands this 16th day of June, 1960. <br />A. Elsom Johnson, Jr.( ~igned) <br />The City Manager advised the Council that due to new regulations of the Federal <br />Communications Commission it was necessary to convert the present short wave receivers <br />used by the volunteer firemen or replace them with new receivers. Mr. Bowen stated <br />Matter re• that the cost of new receivers, less the trade-in value of the old ones, would be <br />Short Wave Receivers <br />Volunteer Firemen approximately $4,400.00. The Fire Chief addressed the Council and stated that he <br />had checked with the factory and that it is not practical to attempt to convert the <br />old receivers due to the age of the sets and cost involved. On motion by Mr. Scribner, <br />seconded by Mr. Weinberg, the following resolution was offered and carried over to the <br />next meeting for consideration: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Gouncil of the City of Charlottesville that $4,400.00 <br />Resolution approp. <br />carried over re• or as much thereof as may be necessary be and the same is hereby appropriated for <br />Short Wave Receivers <br />Volunteer Firemen new short wave receivers for the volunteer firemen. <br />On motion by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Coleman, the following resolution was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration: <br />Resolution approp. <br />carried over re• BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that $55,000.00 <br />School Site property <br />Greenbrier Sub. be and the same is hereby appropriated for new school site in the Greenbrier Subdivision <br />and the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute contract with Montague-Miller <br />for the purchase of this property. <br />An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING CHAPTER 3 OF THE <br />Ordinance carried over <br />re: Ch. 3 - Animals, CHARLOTTESVILLE CODE OF 1959 ENTITLED 'ANIMALS, BIRDS AND FOWL' BY THE ADDITION <br />Birds and Fowl <br />THERETO OF TWO SECTIONS NUMBERED 3-33 AND 3-34" was offered by Mr. Davis, seconded by <br />Mr. Weinberg and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br />Complaint re: Dogs A petition from some of the residents of the Board Avenue vicinity complaining of <br />referred to Health Dept. <br />dogs kept by one of the residents of that area was referred to the Health Department <br />for investigation and report. <br />An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SUB-PARAGRAPH 15 OF <br />Ordinance adopted re: <br />Projecting Sign SECTION 28-2 OF CHAPTER 28 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1959, ENTITLED <br />'PROJECTING SIGN "', which was offered at the meeting of the Council on June 13, 1960 <br />was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Coleman, Mr. Davis, Mr. Michie, <br />Mr. Scribner and Mr. Weinberg. Noes: None. <br />
