He noted that $50,000 <br />has been set aside. Mr. Norris said he would like to give an update on the next agenda. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch recommended that the Mayor send a letter of interest to the Highland <br />Wind Company. He said we should also see if we can get Virginia Power to adopt a <br />renewal energy portfolio with a reasonable price point. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown suggested having the Sustainability Committee comment on the issue. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said he can send a draft letter to the Committee and ask for their <br />feedback. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown suggested getting comments from staff about withdrawing the Fifeville <br />historic designation application. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said she favors withdrawing the application. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he favors deferring the application. <br /> <br /> Mr. Taliaferro said he favors withdrawing the application. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said he would like to get comments from staff about concerns raised <br />by Preservation Piedmont. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris noted that Preservation Piedmont is interested in state and federal <br />designation at a later date and then local design control. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said the neighborhood felt they had not been included in the <br />development of the application and he feels there needs to be a more inclusive process in <br />the future. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said the process has been impeached and the content of the <br />application questioned and she thinks it should be withdrawn. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said he is more inclined to defer and to flesh out a better application <br />with the neighborhood. <br /> <br /> It was the consensus of Council to ask that the application for federal and state <br />historic designation be deferred indefinitely. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said we should also write to the neighborhood association <br />clarifying Council’s position. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said we need to clarify what Council can do about the application. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said we need a short term solution regarding the elimination of the <br />Route 6 bus route, and asked when we can expect a solution. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said he thinks the link will work in the short-term and then staff <br />can come back with something more permanent. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said it would be useful to talk about this from a bigger perspective and <br />to talk about what the changes were expected to do. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said the ITS solution can be a relatively short-term solution and should <br />improve performance. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned and Council reconvened in closed session in the <br />Second Floor Conference Room. <br /> <br />
