<br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Monday, June 18, 2007 AT 6:00 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox <br /> <br />SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM – June 18, 2007 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Hamilton, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Council voted (Ayes: <br />Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None) to meet <br />in closed session for 1) Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff members <br />regarding the negotiation of the terms and conditions of a cost sharing agreement <br />between the City of Charlottesville and the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority for solid <br />waste disposal costs, and probably litigation relating thereto, where such briefing and <br />consultation in an open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating the litigating <br />posture of the City, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(7) of the Virginia Code; and 2) <br />Discussion and consideration of specific candidates for appointment to City boards and <br />commissions and discussion of the annual performance evaluation of the Clerk of <br />Council, both as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Hamilton, seconded by Mr. Lynch, Council certified by the <br />following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br />Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business <br />matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom <br />of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, <br />discussed or considered in the closed session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER – June 18, 2007 <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />Ms. Hamilton said she will bring up the proposal by Advocates for a Sustainable <br />Albemarle Population (ASAP) and changes to bus routes 3 and 6 during other business <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Ms. Colette Hall, 101 Robertson Lane, President of North Downtown Residents <br />Association, said she supports permit parking for Altamont Street. <br /> <br /> Ms. Lorrie Delehanty, 645 Evergreen Avenue, read a resolution expressing <br />Council’s support for impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. <br /> <br /> Ms. Sue Chase, 8142 Batesville Road, Afton, representing the Center for Peace <br />and Justice, said that the President and Vice President should be impeached for having <br />exceeded constitutional bounds, for their behavior, and for using their power for improper <br />purposes. She asked Council to join 80 other cities in sending a message through the <br />resolution to begin the impeachment process. She presented 1204 signatures in support <br />of the resolution. <br /> <br /> Ms. Susan Oberman, 604 Grove Avenue, said that holding people accountable <br />strengthens our government. She said impeachment will stop future actions. <br /> <br /> <br />
