7 <br />302-202100100-530670 Financing Costs $5,000 <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />f. : $26,657.11 – Four for Life State Grant (carried over) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />g. : Authorizing $5,000 for Street Car Task Force Staff <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, at the September 4, 2007 City Council meeting, it was agreed that <br />Council would move forward with making a donation in the amount of $5,000 to the <br />Streetcar Task Force. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br />by the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $5,000 is hereby paid from currently <br />appropriated funds in the Council Reserve account in the General Fund: <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />$5,000 Fund: 105 Cost Center: 1011001000 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />h. : Authorizing Worker’s Compensation Settlement <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the City has made payments to a former employee pursuant to the Virginia <br />Workers’ Compensation Act for injuries sustained in the course of his employment; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , the employee (whose name is not stated herein for privacy reasons) <br />has brought suit against the third party who caused his work-related injuries, and has <br />agreed to accept a proposed settlement with the third party and the insurance companies <br />with coverage liability; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , pursuant to the proposed settlement the City will receive $70,000 in <br />satisfaction of its claim of subrogation; will not incur any liability under its underinsured <br />motorist liability coverage; and will incur no future liability for any additional medical <br />expenses incurred by the former employee as a result of the accident. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that it appearing to be in the best interests of the City, the <br />settlement resulting in the City’s acceptance of $70,000 in satisfaction of its claim of <br />subrogation, with no further obligation for payments pursuant to the Virginia Workers’ <br />Compensation Act, is hereby approved, contingent on any required approvals by the <br />Virginia Workers Compensation Commission. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />i. : Endorsing Monticello Area Domestic Violence Fatality <br /> Review Team <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, family and intimate partner violence has destructive consequences <br />upon individuals and families within the Monticello Area Community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, careful examination of family and intimate partner fatalities can <br />help prevent similar tragedies from recurring; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, a thoughtful and non-judgmental method of evaluating the events <br />that lead to family and intimate partner fatalities will create a safer community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, § 32.1-283.3 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, permits <br />Monticello Area to establish a Family Violence Fatality Review Team “to examine fatal <br />family violence incidents and to create a body of information to help prevent future <br />family partner fatalities”; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the Monticello Area Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team will <br />engage agencies, organizations and systems which provide services to victims and <br />perpetrators to identify possible gaps as well as best practices in system responses and <br />provide for increased communication and collaboration amongst the agencies involved; <br />and <br /> <br /> <br />
