<br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Monday, March 17, 2008 AT 6:00 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox <br /> <br />SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM – March 17, 2008 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Absent: Ms. Edwards. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Dr. Brown, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. <br />Brown, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None. Absent: Ms. Edwards) to <br />meet in closed session for discussion and consideration of appointments to City boards <br />and commissions, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code; and <br />consultation with legal counsel regarding the negotiation of the terms and conditions of a <br />proposed cost allocation agreement with the Albemarle County Service Authority; <br />discussion of a proposed agreement for fire services with Albemarle County; and for <br />consultation with legal counsel regarding a specific legal matter requiring the provision <br />of legal advice. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Dr. Brown, Council certified by the <br />following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None. <br />Absent: Ms. Edwards) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public <br />business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia <br />Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session <br />were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER – March 17, 2008 <br /> <br /> <br />Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Absent: Ms. Edwards. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris announced that the Martha Jefferson neighborhood has been <br />designated to the National Historic Registry. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said he would like to discuss conditions for funding Advocates for a <br />Sustainable Albemarle Population (ASAP) during other business. <br /> <br />AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS <br />: POISON PREVENTION PROCLAMATION; <br />OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS PROCLAMATION; RED CROSS <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris presented proclamations for Poison Prevention, Ovarian Cancer <br />Awareness and the Red Cross. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Ms. Colette Hall, 101 Robertson Lane, said that if the Eastern Connector is not <br />feasible, what about the Meadowcreek Parkway. She said the topography will be altered, <br />trees will be cut, and there will be increased pollution if the Parkway is built. She <br />recommended that Council walk the site to see what we will lose when the road is built. <br /> <br /> <br />
