<br />WHEREAS,
<br /> the Virginia Tourism Corporation has notified the City of
<br />Charlottesville, through the Charlottesville/Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau,
<br />of its grant award in the amount of $25,000.
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
<br /> by the Council of the City of
<br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that a total of $25,000 is hereby appropriated in the following
<br />manner:

<br />APPROPRIATION

<br />RESOLUTION
<br />g. : Special Permit Amendment for International School
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS
<br />, the International School of Charlottesville (“Applicant”) has
<br />requested an amendment to the special use permit granted by City Council on June 5,
<br />2006, with respect to property identified on City Tax Map 58 as Parcel 219 (830
<br />Monticello Avenue), consisting of approximately 0.417 acres (“Subject Property”), to
<br />allow an increase in the maximum number of children enrolled in the school from 50
<br />children to 99 children; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br />, at its meeting on June 5, 2006, City Council conditioned approval
<br />of the special use permit on a restriction in enrollment to 50 children and the hours of
<br />operation to be from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br />, a joint public hearing on this application was held before the City
<br />Council and Planning Commission on May 13, 2008, following notice to the public and
<br />to adjacent property owners as required by law; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br />, on May 13, 2008, based on the information presented by
<br />Neighborhood Development Services staff, as well as by the Applicant, the Planning
<br />Commission recommended that the application be approved; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br />, this City Council finds and determines that granting the amendment
<br />to the Special Use Permit would be consistent with City Code §34-156, et seq. and the
<br />criteria generally applicable to special use permits under Chapter 34 of the City Code;
<br />now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED
<br /> by the Charlottesville City Council that the Special Use
<br />Permit for the Subject Property approved by this Council on June 5, 2006, is hereby
<br />amended to allow an increase in the maximum enrollment from 50 children to 99
<br />children. All other conditions of the Special Use Permit approved by City Council on
<br />June 5, 2006 shall remain the same and be unaffected by this amendment.
