3 <br /> Dr. Brown noted that the Pedestrian Study Committee involved residents of North <br />Downtown as well as all over the City. He thanked Mr. Rosensweig for his comments. <br />He said he has spoken to a number of parents of SOCA kids who traveled to Poggio <br />about the benefits of the program. He said the point of a school exchange is to reach a <br />diverse group of kids, and he said he hopes we can find a way to do it. He pointed out <br />that there is a planning process underway for Westhaven, and CDBG funds have been <br />designated for that purpose. He said the issue is how to do it strategically. He thanked <br />Ms. Roberts for her suggestion. <br /> <br /> Ms. Edwards said she would like to revisit the traffic issues at Belmont Park. She <br />thanked Ms. Roberts for reminding Council how important police officers are. She said <br />they should be recognized more while they are alive. She said she is disappointed that <br />CDBG funds have not been used yet for Westhaven, and asked that the Housing <br />Authority Director provide a report in response to Mr. Mason’s comments. <br /> Ms. Norris agreed with all remarks about Ms. Roberts. He seconded Dr. Brown’s <br />comments about Poggio, and shared his interest in developing a student exchange. He <br />said he has had a conversation with the City Manager about how we can be more <br />proactive regarding the condition of Westhaven. He said he agrees we need feedback <br />from the Housing Authority. He said it has to involve Westhaven residents and the <br />community. He said we ultimately need to look at revitalizing the neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja said it is good to be planning for Westhaven, but we need to address the <br />basic hygiene issues. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Huja, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, the following consent <br />agenda items were approved by the following vote.
