<br />WHEREAS
<br /> , the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services has awarded
<br />the Byrne Grant in the amount of $30,326 for the Central Virginia Restorative Justice
<br />Program housed at OAR/Jefferson Area Community Corrections; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br /> , there is a match requirement in the amount of $10,108 which are
<br />funds already in the OAR approved budget; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br /> , the City of Charlottesville serves as the fiscal agent for this grant
<br />program.
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED
<br /> by the Council of the City of
<br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $30,326, received as a grant from the Virginia
<br />Department of Criminal Justice Services, is hereby appropriated in the following manner:

<br />receipt of $30,326 from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.

<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br /> , the City of Charlottesville Weed and Seed Network has been
<br />awarded $149,927 from the U.S. Department of Justice – Office of Justice Programs via
<br />the Community Capacity Development Office; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br /> , there is a required match in the amount of $50,000, all of which will
<br />be provided in kind: $16,950 via a portion of the site coordinators salary, which is paid
<br />by Charlottesville Public School division, $13,800 via the apartment provided for the
<br />police substation at Walker Square and $19,250 in services provided by Piedmont
<br />Housing Alliance’s homebuyer education and financial literacy training opportunities for
<br />residents.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br /> , the grant award covers the period from period May 1, 2008 through
<br />April 30, 2009, and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br /> , in accordance with guidelines established by the U.S. Department
<br />of Justice and the Community Capacity Development Office, decisions regarding how the
<br />$149,927 will be spent are made by the Weed and Seed Network Steering Committee,
<br />chaired by the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia;

<br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED

<br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $149,927, received from the U.S. Department of
<br />Justice – Office of Justice Programs via the Community Capacity Development Office, is
<br />hereby appropriated in the following manner:
