2 <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Stratton Salidas, 704 Graves Street, said he was pleased that the Planning <br />Commission recommended postponing City funding for the Meadowcreek Parkway, and <br />he hopes Council will follow their lead and spend money on walking and biking instead. <br />He said the conditions of an eastern connector and replacement parkland have not been <br />met. He said the City is shirking its environmental requirements. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brandon Collins, 320 ½ Meade Avenue, said he shares Mr. Salidas’ <br />comments about the Meadowcreek Parkway. He thanked Council for changing the rules <br />for cafes during reconstruction of the mall, but he said the project is still likely to be a <br />problem. He said 20 more endorsements have been added to his letter. He said <br />businesses are struggling to pay their rents and Council should take a look a t the whole <br />project. <br /> <br /> Mr. M. Rick Turner, Brandywine Drive, President of the NAACP, said that <br />thth <br />February 12 marks the 100 anniversary of the NAACP and he invited the City and <br />County to join in commemorating this anniversary. <br /> <br /> Mr. John Pfaltz, 1503 Rugby Road, said that the number of City employees has <br />increased from 799 in 2005 to 931 today, but he questioned what additional services have <br />been added. He said affordable housing is one of Council’s priority, but he said now is <br />the time to work on affordable government. <br /> <br /> Ms. Colette Hall, 101 Robertson Lane, said she is upset by the proposed <br />memorandum of understanding about the water supply and feels it is unfair to City <br />residents. <br /> <br /> Mr. Downing Smith, 810 Locust Avenue, said he has had numerous positive <br />experiences with City employees and he thanked them for their good services and wished <br />them and Council a Merry Christmas. <br /> <br /> Mr. Raymond Mason, 717 Cynthianna Avenue, said that safety violations remain <br />at Westhaven. He asked who he should contact. He said race problems still exist. <br /> <br /> Ms. Tina Washington, 726 B Prospect Avenue, a member of the PHAR Board, <br />asked Council to support the Tenant Bill of Rights. <br /> <br /> Mr. Kevin Lynch, 609 Locust Avenue, said he was hoping to see more <br />understanding in the memorandum of understanding regarding the water supply. He said <br />Council needs to get a second opinion about the dam cost overruns, pipeline, and other <br />options. He said the current pipeline alignment does not work. <br /> <br /> Ms. Betty Mooney, 201 Sunset Avenue, thanked Council for relooking at the <br />water supply plan. She said she is worried by the proposed memorandum of <br />understanding and people think it is suspect. She noted that the City owns the resources. <br /> <br />
