He said our country needs a healthy discussion about this issue. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said an agreement has been reached regarding the condemnation for <br />Hillsdale Drive so it has been removed from the agenda. He said the Hinton Avenue <br />rezoning has been rezoned until Ms. Edwards is present and in order to give staff <br />additional time to look at some of the traffic and noise issues. <br /> <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Mr. George Benford was <br />appointed (Business representative) and Ms. Peppy Linden reappointed (tourism <br />representative) to two-year terms on the Charlottesville-Albemarle Convention and <br />Visitors Bureau by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. <br />Taliaferro. Noes: None. Absent: Ms. Edwards. These terms will expire on June 30, <br />2011. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Mr. Tanner Perkins (youth <br />representative) was appointed to a one-year term, and Dr. Paul Wisman was reappointed <br />to a three-year term on the Charlottesville-Albemarle Commission on Children and <br />Families by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br />Noes: None. Absent: Ms. Edwards. Mr. Perkins’ term will expire on June 30, 2010, <br />and Dr. Wisman’s term will expire on June 30, 2012. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Rev. Ralph Brown, Mr. <br />Gary O’Connell (Pleven representative) and Mr. Gowhere Rizvi (higher education <br />representative) were reappointed to three-year terms (ending June 30, 2012, Ms. Nancy <br />Damon was appointed to a three-year term (ending June 30, 2012), Ms. Marthe Rowen <br />was appointed to an initial one-year term (ending June 30, 2010), and Ms. Kay Slaughter <br />(Poggio a Caiano representative) was appointed to an unexpired term (ending June 30, <br />2011) on the Charlottesville Sister City Commission by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. <br />Brown, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None. Absent: Ms. Edwards. <br />Included in the motion was to increase the size of the Commission by two at-large <br />members. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Ms. Mary Loose DeViney <br />and Ms. Suzanne W. Morse were reappointed to four-year terms on the Piedmont <br />Virginia Community College Board by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Huja, <br />Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None. Absent: Ms. Edwards.
