<br /> Mr. Huja said he supports cooperation with the Midtown Association. He said he
<br />does not understand why the Amtrak parking lot is not finished. He shared concerns
<br />about pedestrian safety on Shamrock and asked that it be studied.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Taliaferro said West Main Street is an important line between downtown and
<br />the University of Virginia. He said the parking lot is a disgrace and it needs to be looked
<br />at. He said the railroad crossing on Shamrock is a safety issue.
<br />
<br /> Ms. Edwards echoed concerns about the parking lot and Shamrock Road. She
<br />invited people to attend RWSA meetings. She said she saw Mr. Long’s rally where he
<br />verbalized great concerns about housing. She said society is judged by the way it treats
<br />its animals. She said we need to provide better housing for people. She said she is
<br />intrigued by the idea of a fiscal impact statement showing the value of park land.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Norris said he agrees with comments made about West Main Street and the
<br />railroad crossing. He thanked Mr. Willer for his support of the LEAP program. He said
<br />Council has talked about holding a work session on solid waste and Mr. Greer’s
<br />comments reinforce the need for that. He said the newspaper article, or headline, did not
<br />portray the discussion. He said people are suffering due to lack of affordable housing.

<br />Frederick Wolf were reappointed and Mr. Fairfax Ayres was appointed (Ayes: Dr.
<br />Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None) to four-year
<br />terms on the Board of Architectural Review. These terms will begin on January 2, 2010
<br />and end on January 1, 2014.

<br /> On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Huja, Mr. Gregory Edwards and Mr.
<br />Jeffrey Uphoff were reappointed (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris,
<br />Mr. Taliaferro) to three-year terms on the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport
<br />Commission. These terms will expire on December 1, 2013.

<br />None) to the Dialogue on Race Steering Committee.

<br />Committee. These terms will expire on December 31, 2011.
