5 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS <br />, Rock Creek Properties, LLC has offered to donate to the City of <br />Charlottesville approximately 1.52 acres of land that is currently a portion of the property <br />designated as Parcel 120 on City Tax Map 24; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , the subject property is located between Forest Ridge Road and the <br />unaccepted portion of Antoinette Avenue, immediately adjacent to Forest Hills Park, and <br />is shown as “Area X” on a plat made by Dominion Engineering, dated August 25, 2009; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , City staff have recommended acceptance of the subject property as <br />an addition to Forest Hills Park, to preserve forested and riparian buffer, and provide <br />improved greenbelt trail connectivity; now, therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council for the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that <br />the City hereby accepts the donation of approximately 1.52 acres of land from Rock <br />Creek Properties, LLC, as shown on the attached plat, and the City Attorney is hereby <br />directed to take whatever steps are necessary to effect the closing of the transfer of the <br />subject property to the City. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />h. : Authorizing Purchase of Land near Holmes avenue for <br /> Greenbelt Trail Expansion <br /> <br /> WHEREAS <br />, the City desires to purchase, and T. E. Wood has agreed to sell to <br />the City of Charlottesville, approximately 2.3 acres of land located north of Idlewood <br />subdivision near Holmes Avenue, more particularly identified as Parcel 48 on City Tax <br />Map 47A; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , the subject property is residue land from the development of <br />Idlewood Subdivision, and is shown on the attached plat dated February 23, 2009, by <br />Draper Aden Associates; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , the City Assessor has valued the subject property at $10,300.00, and <br />the City and Mr. Wood have signed an agreement evidencing the terms of the sale of the <br />subject property to the City for $10,300.00, which funds have been appropriated and are <br />available in Account P-00549 in the Parks and Recreation FY2010 budget; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , City staff have recommended the purchase of the subject property to <br />preserve forested and riparian buffer, and provide improved greenbelt trail connectivity; <br />now, therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council for the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that <br />the City hereby authorizes the purchase of approximately 2.3 acres of land from T.E. <br />Wood, as shown on the attached plat, and the City Attorney is hereby directed to take <br />whatever steps are necessary to effect the closing of the conveyance of the subject <br />property to the City. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE <br />i. : “AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A REQUEST TO <br /> REZONE PROPERTIES LOCATED ON CHERRY AVENUE AND RIDGE <br />nd <br /> STREET TO PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT (PUD)” (2 reading) <br /> <br />ORDINANCE <br />j. : “AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br /> SECTION 34-796 (Use Matrix) OF ARTICLE VI (MIXED-USE CORRIDOR <br /> DISTRICTS) OF CHAPTER 34 (ZONING) TO ADD AMUSEMENT CENTERS <br /> AS A BY-RIGHT USE IN THE HIGHWAY (HW) CORRIDOR DISTRICT” <br /> (carried over) <br /> <br />PUBIC HEARING/RESOLUTION <br />: DESIGNATING WINNEBA, GHANA AS <br />SISTER CITY <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said that Winneba, Ghana is recommended to become the City’s sister <br />city. <br /> <br />
