Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: PROPOSED CTS BUS FARE AND SERVICES CHANGES <br /> <br /> Ms. Helen Poore, Transit Manager, reviewed the proposed changes for Charlottesville <br />Transit Service: increase in bus fares; reduction in service; demand responsive services <br />provided for Greenbrier/Meadowbrook Heights routes; and increase in the frequency of two <br />routes. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Ms. Slaughter about how demand responsiYe service <br />will work, Ms. Poore said people must call at least four hours in advance to request the <br />service, and they will then be taken to either the closest bus route or the closest transfer <br />center. Ms. Poore added that the service will be provided by a contract service. <br /> <br />The public heating was opened <br /> <br /> Ms. Page Homsby, 1401 Rugby Road, expressed concern about elimination of bus <br />service to her neighborhood. <br /> <br />As there were no further speakers, the public hearing was closed. <br /> <br /> Responding to Ms. Homsby's concern, Ms. Poore said that the demand responsive <br />service would be available in her neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Poore said that the transit <br />recommendations were based on several years of study. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano asked for information on the reduction of federal subsidy of the transit <br />service, and Ms. Poore replied that the subsidy was reduced $120,000 in the current year, <br />and is expected to be reduced by an additional $100,000 next year. <br /> <br /> <br />
