BY MCI" (carried over) <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: COlvlPREHENSIVE PLAN/LAND USE PLAN <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano noted that there have been three joint Planning Commission/Council <br />public hearings on the Comprehensive Plan/Land Use Plan. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter asked Mr. Huja to review the proposed Land Use changes since she is <br />not sure everyone knows about the changes. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja reviewed the process, noting that affected property owners were notified in <br />writing for every public hearing, and reviewed the recommended changes. <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards stated that he is not going to support changing the Land Use Plan for <br />Estes because it would encourage encroachment into the neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Huja stated that the Land Use Plan <br />for South Street is proposed to be changed in response to neighbors' concerns of height and <br />mass allowed in the current zoning designation. Mr. Huja stated that the only zoning <br />designation that would address these concerns is office designation. Mr. Huja added that the <br />Planning Commission has asked staff to explore other ways to protect the neighborhood. <br /> <br />The public hearing was opened. <br /> <br /> Mr. Maurice Cox, 702 Ridge Street, requested that the Planning Commission's version <br />of a citizens' based review committee for roads be put back in the Plan as it would assure <br />citizen input in all new and revised road projects. <br /> <br /> Ms. Joan Woodfolk, a resident of Ridge Street, requested that Council restore the <br />language concerning minority business development in CDBG target neighborhoods. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ann Muse, 775 Ridge Street, asked that Council reintroduce the expanded Ridge <br />Street historic district. <br /> <br /> Ms. Jane Foster, 6 Gildersleeve Wood, secretary of the Jefferson Park Avenue <br />Neighborhood'Association, expressed disappointment that Council changed the language <br />concerning ~he Fontaine Avenue widening as the neighborhood feels.that the four:lane <br />entrance mould threaten the neighborhood~ ~'~ ~ ~': '~ :~ -i.z.~- ~ <br /> <br /> Ms. Nancy Dmon, 2407 Jefferson Park Avenue, stated that the neighborhood's <br />prefe~ed ~enti~t is to have a two-lane boulevard, not a road dMded wkh~a median. <br /> <br /> <br />
