252 <br /> <br /> NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Wednesday, October 1 <br />1995 AT 12:00 noon IN THE Bm~ley Moran School. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br />Luncheon meeting with School Board <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br /> BURNLEY-MORAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - October 11, 1995 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the folloWing me~nbers present: Ms. <br />Daugherty, Rev. Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br /> Bumley-Moran students took Councilors, School Board members, and staff on a tour <br /> <br />of new renovated Burnley-Moran School. <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER- October 16, 1995 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Ms. <br />Daugherty, Rev. Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Donald Day, an Albemarle County resident, asked Council to learn more about the <br />issue of possible privatization of the U. Va. Hospital and the possible effects on current <br />hospital employees, many of whom are City residents, such as lower wages and fewer <br />benefits. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano said the possible privatization of the Hospital is a major issue not only for <br />employees, but for the future of indigent care provided at the hospital. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the following consent agenda <br />items were unanimously approved: <br /> <br />a. Minutes of September 18 <br /> <br />b. APPROPRIATION: $8,525 - DARE Grant (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT POgSOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the <br />sum of $8,525.00, to be received as a grant from the Commonwealth of Virginia, is hereby <br />appropriated to expenditure account 11-270-041134, to be expended by the Charlottesville <br />Police Department to support anti-drug education (DARE program) in the city schools. All <br />expenditures from this grant shall be in accordance with the Drug Free Schools and <br />Communities Act of 1986. This appropriation is conditioned upon reimbursement of <br />$8,525.00 from the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br /> <br />
