77 <br /> <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session for <br />the purpose of appointing members to various city boards or <br />co~missions and for the purpose of considering the <br />acquisition or use of real property for public purpose, or <br />the disposition of publicly held property, and more <br />specifically described as negotiations for the sale of <br />property on East High Street, including issues surrounding <br />the purchase price, as authorized by Section 2.1-344(a)(1) <br />and (3) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by Ms. <br />Slaughter, seconded by Rev. Edwards, unanimously certified <br />that, to the best of each members' knowledge, (i) only public <br />business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive <br />meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and <br />(ii) only such public business matters as were identified in <br />the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, <br />discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Rev. Edwards, <br />Ms. Margaret DeMallie was unanimously appointed to an <br />unexpired term on the Building Code Board of Appeals. This <br />term will expire on December 15, 1996. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, Ms. <br />Mary Williams was unanimously reappointed and Ms. Kathleen <br />DeSilvey and Ms. Grace Tinsley were unanimously aPpointed to <br />two-year terms on the Jefferson Area Board for Aging. These <br />terms will expire on April 1,1995. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, <br />Mr. John "Chip" Harding was unanimously appointed to a <br />two-year term on the Jefferson Area Community Corrections <br />Resources Board. This term will expire on December 31, 1994. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, <br />Ms. Leah Puryear and Ms. Grace Tinsley were unanimously <br />reappointed to four-year terms on the Piedmont Virginia <br />Community College Board. These terms will expire on June 30, <br />1997. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Mr. <br />Jim Herndon was unanimously appointed as the City official on <br />the Regional Disability Services Board. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by Rev. Edwards, <br />Mr. Preston Coiner was unanimously appointed to a two-year <br />term on the Rivanna Solid Waste Advisory Committee. This <br />term will expire on December 31, 1994. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Ms. <br />Sally Thomas was unanimously appointed to a three-year term <br />as the University of virginia representative on the Social <br />Development Commission. This term will expire on August 31, <br />1996. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Mr. <br />Bernhard Leipelt was unanimously reappointed to a four-year <br />term on the Social Services Advisory Board.
