76 <br /> <br />housing units in the City. <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE <br />CONVEYANCE OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF JOHN <br />STREET AND 13TH STREET, N.W., TO THE MIDWAY HOUSING <br />DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION," which was offered at the May 3rd <br />meeting and amended at the May 17th meeting, was approved by <br />the following vOte. Ayes: Ms. Daugherty, Rev. Edwards, Ms. <br />Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell notified council that three other City- <br />owned lots are being pursued by other housing organizations <br />and the issue should be before the Council in approximately <br />two months. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: REVOCABLE EASEMENT TO RUGBY AVENUE CHURCH <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that the church parking lot is <br />located on the property in question and the City will retain <br />the right to reclaim the property in the future if needed. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, <br />the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE <br />CONVEYANCE OF AN EASEMENT ACROSS CITY RIGHT-OF-WAY ON RUGBY <br />AVENUE" was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AMENDING LIST OF HISTORIC DESIGNATED PROPERTIES <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the ordinance removes the old <br />Peyton house from the list of historic properties because the <br />building no longer exists and also makes technical <br />corrections to the!Code. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Mr. Toscano, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 34-567 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />1990, AS AMENDED, TO REMOVE THE "PEYTON HOUSE" SITE ON INDIA <br />ROAD FROM THE LIST OF DESIGNATED HISTORIC SITES" was offered <br />and carried over to the~next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards stated that signs restricting traffic in <br />the neighborhoods adjacent to the Ridge Street bridge needed <br />to be erected because people are using these streets to <br />detour the construction. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that signs are being put up to <br />restrict truck traffic in the neighborhood and some on-street <br />parking has been temporarily relocated to the Centel parking <br />lot. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that equipment and crews from <br />Charlottesville have been sent to Lynchburg to help them <br />clean up following the recent destructive thunderstorms. <br /> <br /> Ms. Daugherty expressed concern about the delay in <br />hiring Community Services Officers until July and asked what <br />the cost would be to add them prior to that time. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the cost would be approximately <br />$I,050. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, <br />council unanimously authorized the hiring of the additional <br />CSOs prior to July 1st. <br /> <br />On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, <br /> <br /> <br />
