99 <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - August 2, 1993 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular sesBion on this date with the <br />following members present: Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. <br />Toscano, Mr. Vandever. Absent: Rev. Edwards. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. James~Corbin, 510 South First Street, expressed <br />concern about wheelchair access between South First Street <br />and First Baptist Church on Park Street stated that and the <br />weeds and bushes on 2nd Street on the south side of the <br />railroad tracks obscure the view. <br /> <br /> Mr. Henry Silva presented a statement in support of a <br />civil rights march on Washington, D. C. and asked for <br />Council's statement of support for local attendance at the <br />march and at the South Christian Leadership Conference in <br />Rockville, Maryland prior to the march. <br /> <br /> Mr. Vandever suggested that Council consider a <br />resolution of support of the march at the next meeting. <br /> <br /> Mr. Charles Lilly spoke out against waste in City <br />government and stated that elected officials need to keep a <br />closer scrutiny of expenditures. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Daugherty, Seconded by Ms. Slaughter, <br />the following consent agenda items were unanimously approved, <br />with Rev. Edwards absent. <br /> <br />a. MinUtes of June 28 and 29 and July 6 and 14 <br /> <br />be <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $960,335 - Comprehensive Services <br /> Act (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $960,335.00, to <br />be received from the Commonwealth of Virginia (Comprehensive <br />Services for Youth and Families), the Charlottesville Public <br />Schools, and the Charlottesville Department of Social <br />Services, is hereby appropriated to expenditure account <br />15-161065000, to be expended by the Community Policy and <br />Management Team appointed by City Council and the Albemarle <br />County Board of Supervisors, in order to provide services for <br />at-risk youth and families as established by the <br />Comprehensive Services Act, effective July 1, 1993. This <br />appropriation is conditioned upon receipt of $668,786 from <br />the Commonwealth of Virginia, $69,177 from the <br />Charlottesville Public Schools, and $191,356 to be <br />transferred from Social Services accounts 12-161-062266, and <br />$31,016 to be transferred from Social Service account <br />12-161-062273 <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $39,251.71 - Entitlement for Fire <br /> Programs (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $39,251.71, <br />received from the Commonwealth of Virginia for local <br />operation of fire protection programs, is hereby appropriated <br />to expenditure account 11-260-042020 in the Grants Fund for <br />the purchase of firefighting equipment and related training <br />expenses. <br /> <br />de <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: Revised Street Cut Bond Process <br /> (2nd reading) <br /> <br />ee <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: Granting easement to Virginia Power for <br /> relocation of power line at Walker School <br /> (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> <br />
