THE PROPOSED AGENDA iS AS FOLLOWS: City Manager briefing and/or executive session as provided by Section 2.1-344(a) of the Virginia Code. BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) CITY MANAGER'S CONFERENCE ROOM - December 6, 1993 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Ms. DaughertY, Rev. Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. Mr. Hendrix, City Manager, briefed Council on the following: numbers of retirees, possibility of putting refuse collection services out to bid; railroad bridge on West Main Street; large item pickup schedule; holiday closings; schedule for two-waying of Water Street; and construction update. Mr. Vandever, a member of the Jail Board, explained that the Joint Security Complex is exploring the possibility of amending its contract with the City and Albemarle County in order to guarantee space for federal prisoners. On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session for the purpose of considering the acquisition or use of real property for public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as authorized by Section 2.1-344(a)(3) of the Virginia Code, and more specifically described as the High Street parking lot. Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, unanimously certified that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i) only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting to which this certification resolution applies; and (ii) only such public business matters as were identified in the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, discussed or considered by the Council.
