Carroll Smith asked Council's endorsement of <br />locating a highway marker at the intersection of Emmet Street <br />and University Avenue honoring Frank Peregory, a member of <br />the Monticello Guard and recipient of the Medal of Honor. <br /> <br /> On motion' by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by Rev. Edwards, <br />Council unanimously endorsed locating the highway marker <br />honoring Frank Peregory at the Emmet Street/University Avenue <br />intersection. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, U.S. Route 29 has been designated as the "29th <br />Infantry Division Memorial Highway;" and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, historical markers have been authorized to be <br />erected along U.S. 29 honoring heroic achievements by members <br />of the 29th Division; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, members of the Monticello Guard, K Co., ll6th <br />Infantry, 29th Division, has recommended that the <br />Charlottesville marker honor Technical Sergeant Frank D. <br />Peregory, Medal of Honor winner and a deceased hero of the <br />Monticello Guard; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the'City of <br />Charlottesville, hereby endorses the intersection of U.S. 29 <br />and Old Ivy Road as the location for the 29th Infantry <br />Division Memorial Highway historical marker honoring <br />Technical Sergeant Frank D. Peregory. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> At the request of Mr. Gouldman, City Attorney, the <br />retirement ordinance was removed from the consent agenda. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, <br />the following consent agenda items were unanimously approved <br />by Council. <br /> <br />a. Minutes of December 6 <br /> <br />b.
