Charlottesville, would like to thank Bitsy for <br /> all she has shared with us-- her exuberant personality, her <br /> thorough consideration of all issues, her warmth and <br /> sincerity, and, most of all, her obvious love of family and <br /> community. We wish her well in all:her future endeavors and <br /> will miss her. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, the <br />minutes of the May 28th meeting were unanimously approved as <br />presented, <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />minutes of the June 1st meeting were unanimously approved as <br />corrected. · <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, the <br />minutes of the June 3rd meeting were approved as presented, <br />with. Mr. Vandever abstaining. <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards thanked Crestar Bank for providing funding <br /> for the pizza party honoring Charlottesville High School <br /> students on June 3rd. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Ms. Mary Loose, President of the Charlottesville- <br />Albemarle Jaycees, requested that Council provide $1,250 <br />toward the Fourth of July fireworks since fundraising for the <br />annual event has fallen short. Ms. Loose stated that a <br />similar request has been made to the Albemarle County Board <br />of Supervisors. <br /> <br /> Council requested that the staff look into the request <br />and report back to Council. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Mr. Vandever, Mr. <br /> Drewary Brown was unanimously reappointed to a three-year <br /> term on the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Jail Board. <br /> This term will expire on June 30, 1995. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Ms. Waters, Ms. <br />Martha Darnell and Ms. Sylvia Tyree were unanimously <br />reappointed to a two-year term on the Charlottesville <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority. These terms will expire <br />on June 30, 1994. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Ms. Waters, Mr. <br />JerOme Stokes was unanimously reappointed to a four-year term <br />on the Piedmont Virginia Community College Board. This term <br />will expire on June 30, 1996. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: VIRGINIA DISCOVERY MUSEUM <br /> <br /> Mr. Kirby Capps, President of the Virginia Discovery <br />Museum Board, and Ms. Jane McGeehan, President-Elect of the <br />Board, presented a check, to the City as ~final repayment of a <br />loan which had been granted to help the Museum's transition <br />to its current site downtown. <br /> <br /> Ms. McGeehan stated that all the goals contained in the <br />original lease agreement with the City have been surpassed <br />and requested that the Council approve an amended lease for <br /> <br /> <br />
