APPROPRIATION: $11,000 - HOO Bus (carried over) <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: "AN ORDINANCE AMEND1NG AND REORDAINING <br />SECTION 4-41 OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE, 1990, AS <br />AMENDED, RELATING TO A LEASH REQUIREMENT FOR DOGS ON THE <br />DOWNTOWN MALL" (2nd reading) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: APPROVING McGUFFEY LEASE <br /> <br /> Mr. Gouldman presented two changes to the lease that had been requested by artists: <br />make rent payable on the 15th day of the month; and require that artists be notified by March <br />15th of any rent increase. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, the McGuffey lease, as <br />amended by Mr. Gouldman, was unanimously approved. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager is hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the City the following document, <br />in form approved by the City Attorney: <br /> <br />Lease between the McGuffey Arts Association, Inc. <br />(Tenant) and the City (Lessor) for the property located <br />at 201 2nd Street, N.W. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no 'matter by the public, <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter recommended that the West Main Street Bridge be named after <br />someone, using a process involving community input, and asked staff to suggest a process. <br /> <br />The Council retreat was tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 6th. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano said that he is on the Virginia Municipal League Telecommunications <br />Committee which is charged with developing legislation protecting localities and public rights <br />of way; and explained that deregulation of telecommunications could impact Charlottesville. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms~ Richards, seconded by Mr. Cox, Council unanimously voted to meet <br />in executive session for the purpose of discussing appointments to boards and comrnission, as <br />authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(1) of the Virginia Code; and for the purpose of considering <br />the acquisition or use of real property for public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held <br />property, as authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(3) of the Virginia Code, and more specifically <br />described as property north of the 250 Bypass. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by <br />Mr. Cox, certified that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i)only public business <br />matters lawfially exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in <br />the executive meeting to which this certification resolution apples, and (ii) only such public <br /> <br /> <br />
