APPROPRIATION: $11,000 - HO0 Bus (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the <br />sum of $11,000 is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund <br />to support operation of trolley bus service CHoo Bus") between the University of Virginia <br />and downtown Charlottesville. <br /> <br />c. APPROPRIATION: $92,903 - Victim Witness Program Grant (carried over) <br />d. APPROPRIATION: $3,300 - Curfew Enforcement Grant (carded over) <br /> <br />e. APPROPRIATION: $94,790 - Truant Offender Grant (carded over) <br /> <br />f. RESOLUTION: Settlement of Charlottesville 2000 Lawsuit <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Charlottesville 2000, L.C. has challenged the.City of Charlottesville's <br />decision regarding the style of light fixtures placed on the Downtown Mall near the <br />Charlottesville Ice Park; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, both parties desire to settle the pending lawsuit and to avoid the time and <br />expense of further litigation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Charlottesville 2000, L.C. has offered to remove one of the light fixtures <br />in question and to bear the cost of maintaining the remaining four fixtures in perpetuity; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Charlottesville to accept the <br />proposed settlement; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville thta the above-described proposal of Charlottesville 2000, L.C. is accepted in <br />full settlement of the action currently pending against the City. The City Attorney is <br />authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to effectuate this settlement on behalf <br />of the City. <br /> <br />g. ORDINANCE: <br /> <br />Quitclaim Gas Easement to VDOT (Forest Lakes) <br />(carded over) <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter announced that this is the last meeting to be attended by Daily Progress <br />reporter Patrick Hickerson. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said that the African American Summit will be meeting to discuss a <br />community-wide strategy for improving race relations, which can be a catalyst for other <br />organizations. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards encouraged University professors and graduate students to tell students <br />about the HOO bus. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano gave an update on the status of the train station renovations. Remaining <br />details include Amtrak signing a release with Norfolk Southern and a lease with the <br />developer. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Richards, seconded by Mr. Toscano, Council unanimously voted to <br />meet in executive session for the purpose of appointing members to various City boards or <br />agencies, as authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> <br />
