Ms. Stichter recowav__ended that information be provided to residents about <br />the ability to transfer between CTS and UTS. <br /> <br /> A resident of 829 Belmont Avenue, encouraged Council to protect nature and convert <br />Mc!ntire Park to a forest. <br /> <br /> Mr. Scott Clark, Peyton Drive, said that McIntire Park is a recreational resources that <br />once divided by a roadway wi!! be pe ~rmanent!y impacted. _Mr. Clark said he feels the <br />ParBvay is only a short-term solution. <br /> <br />Ms. Amy Barbie opposed the Park-way and the pollution emitted by automobiles. <br /> <br /> Mx. Brian Jab!onski, 1088 ~o Road, opposed the Park:way which .will destroy trails and <br />will not solve transportation problems. <br /> <br /> Ms. Anne Hemenway, Park Street, supported the Parkway. Ms. Hemenway said she <br />does not tNnk people understand how unsafe Park Street is for children. Ms. Hemenway <br />said she has not heard any alternatives suggested for the _Meadowcreek Parkway. <br /> <br /> Ms. Denise Soloman, an A_eton resident, said she supports alternative means of <br />transportation and traffic calming on Park Street. <br /> <br /> Mr. Blake Caravati, ! !08 Little High Street, said he would like to see the Mclmire Golf <br />Course saved. Mr. Caravati said the Meadowcreek Parkway is part of a network and should <br />be built after or concurrently with other roadways. Mr. Caravati recommended that Council <br />back away and look at the CATS plan as a network. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bob Houser, Keswick, expressed fi'ustration over the lack of p!amning and <br />commitment to proper ptanrdng. Mr. Houser noted that residents on Rio Road would like to <br />use the Parkway to better access downtown. Mr. Houser said that growth is inevitable and <br />needs to be planned for. Mr. Houser said that he supports regional planning that makes <br /> <br />sense. <br /> <br /> Mr. Peter McIntosh, Davis Avenue, asked Counci'! to con 'tmue their support of the <br />Parkway and to continue their suPport of neighborhoods, downto.wn and parks. <br /> <br /> Mr. Chad Freckman encouraged Council to look at al! a!tematives, including speed <br />humps. <br /> <br /> Mr. A_lexis Ziegter, ! 002 Grove Street, thanked Council for appointing a bike <br />committee and said he feels the bike network will be improved in the years to come. Mr. <br />Zieg!er encouraged Council to pursue other mass transit. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bi!! ^Xwood, 419 2nd Street, N.E., noted that at the downto.wn charrette held a <br />few years back, a multi-phase traffic solution was discussed. Mr. Atwood said that the <br />Parkw. ay is both a bad idea and a good idea, but an entry imo downtown is needed: <br /> <br /> Ms. Betty Siegner, 20 ! Sunset Avenue, said that she hopes Council w/It keep an open <br />mind, noting that condkions are different now, and should figure out what is gong to be the <br />best for most people. <br /> <br />The public hearing was closed. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter proposed that a letter be sent to the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation and Federal Highway Administration requesting that they reconsider the <br />decision not to conduct it 4f review and move forward .with that review. Ms. Slaughter said <br />that she feels that if the proposed location for the Parkway is the only prudent alternative <br />then it will be approved. Ms. Slaughter said that she believes that the answers from .VDOT <br />and FHA have been insufficient. <br /> <br /> <br />
