Mr. Cox <br />attributed the significant caseload increases to increases in <br />the drug problem. Mr. Cox stated that the State will <br />provide $28,071 and no local funds will be required. The <br />position would then be added to the City's base budget for <br />future years. <br /> <br /> Ms. Toscano made a motion to approve the new position, <br />adding that he was aware that children have been casualties <br />of the drug problem and hoped that the new position would <br />help relieve job related stress being experienced by social <br />workers. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters seconded the motion and the new social work <br /> position was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $84,473 - TRANSPORTATION PLANNING GRANT <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The ~84~473 appropriation of the Transportation Planning <br />Grant which was offered at the August 6th meeting was <br />approved by the following vote. Ayes: Rev. Edwards, Ms. <br />Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: <br />None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $84,473 is hereby <br />appropriated to expenditure account 11-042-053050 in the <br />Grants Fund for planning activities, including <br />administration, data base maintenance, mapping of CATS area, <br />Downtown Transfer Facility feasibility study, an entrance <br />corridor analysis, a CTS/UTS/Transit coordination plan and <br />study of transportation needs for the southern City/County <br />area. Such activities shall be conducted by the City under a <br />contract pursuant to a Section 112 planning and programming <br />grant received by the Thomas Jefferson Planning District <br />Commission from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and <br />the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). <br /> <br /> This appropriation is conditioned upon receipt by the <br />City for credit to the Grants Fund of $70,176 in FHWA funds, <br />and $7,149 in VDOT funds. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City's matching share of <br />$7,148 is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated balance <br />of the Genera Fund for transfer to the Grants Fund. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $213,615 - RIVANNA PARK - PHASE II (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $213,615 appropriation for Rivanna Park which was <br />offered at the August 6th meeting was approved by the <br />following vote.
