The Perry
Foundation has granted the Museum $250,000 over the next five
years, contingent upon matching funding by the City and
Albemarle County of $25,000 each per year. Ms. Palmer
stated that the Museum was interested in the Paramount
Theatre location in the long run. Ms. Palmer stated that she
would be approaching the Albemarle County Board of
Supervisors on Wednesday.

Ms. Waters questioned how long renovation of the
Paramount Theatre would take and Mr. Tom Hickman, owner of
the Theatre, stated that renovation would realistically take
approximately 18 months.

Ms. Palmer stated that the Museum's optimal move times
would be in June or September.

Ms. Waters stated that the City has expressed strong
interest in the Children's Discovery Museum relocating
downtown and noted that funding by Albemarle County and the
ability to justify a significant increase in funding to the
Museum by showing the greater public benefit, through both
relocating the Museum downtown and renovating the Paramount,
would be necessary. Ms. Waters questioned whether the Museum
could avoid an interim move until the Paramount renovations
were complete.

Mr. Buck recommended that City staff and representatives
of the Museum's Board meet later in the week in order to
further discuss the matter.

APPROPRIATION: $164,074 - CHARTER HOUSE OPERATION (2nd reading)

The $164,074 appropriation for Charter House Operation
which was offered at the July 17th meeting was approved by
the following vote.
